Since we mentioned some things and stuff about astrology and cartomancy or other paranormal related subjects at some point on a different thread and also taking into account the advice of @Avro Arrow and @JirinPanthosa, I created this thread because I saw it was not covered on the forum.
I believe everyone from here used to watch The X-Files even if just a few episodes.
I guess The X-Files covered a lot of subjects regarding the "Paranormal" of course insisting on the UFO alien idea, but not only - each episode approaching various themes of the Paranormal. Starting from evil spirit tales, clairvoyance, occult stuff, demonic possession, close encounters, supernatural and many other things associated with the paranormal.
So I guess it would be fun talking on various paranormal related themes :)
I will start with a story, about a woman who claims on TV that she met these aliens and "made love" with them.
This case was highly publicized in the press and on TV :)
It's a perfectly funny, civilized interview.....with this supernatural skeptic who tries to answer in a scientific manner to this phenomenon.
Feel free to comment or post other subjects concerning the paranormal.

I believe sentient aliens exist out there, but the odds of them making contact with us is pretty low just because of the immense distance and difficulty of getting here, much less even figuring out we exist when no evidence exists to be found yet more than a hundred light years away.

Or it least, we would need to be significantly wrong about physics for the odds to be higher, which is possible.

Regarding the subject of tarot, I have no problem with the people who are really using it 'For entertainment purposes only' same as going to see a magic show. But the psychics who use it to manipulate people who really believe in it into giving them huge amounts of money are awful.

I believe the chances to meet them before Earth will be destroyed by global warming or sun overheating or cooling are minimal .... so we will either burn, either froze in the following decades if everything continues as everything is happening right now.
There's also the idea of colonizing other planets where life could be possible before life on Earth will cease to exist is also practically impossible because technology is moving slower than the apocalypse will come over us eventually :)
Maybe the Centauri from Centauri Prime will give us a hand and they'll teach us hyperspace travelling before we become extinct :)

I agree on the tarot charlatans :) But people were always superstitious. Same as religion and science.
If a man gets to some higher level of knowledge the chances of remaining a religious person or believing in something supernatural are reduced.
However, there still are inexplicable things that raise questions...
So people like to invent stories because they love mystery.
Like the woman in the video above. She's clearly a liar or she was paid to appear on that show.

There are cases though where such people predicted stuff so close to truth that they became "prophets".

As I was rewatching the DS9 there was this episode called Destiny where a Bajoran prophecy predicted that 3 vipers will come to DS9 and destroy the wormhole.... referring to 3 Cardassian scientists who were coming to Deep Space Nine to try to create a permanent communication link through the wormhole.
The prophecy was also saying about a "sword of stars" which will destroy the wormhole.
This proved to be a comet which they shot and destroyed it into 3 fragments. The 3 fragments were approaching the wormhole.
Eventually they succeeded to stabilize the 3 fragments and brought them safely through the wormhole so no damage was done.
After a while Kira notices that they misinterpreted the prophecy - the 3 vipers were not the Cardassians but the 3 fragments of the comet - peering through the temple gates (wormhole).
It was one of the most interesting episodes :)

Semi-practicing Witch here. :) I use Tarot as a tool for self-exploration. Most Witches, Wiccans, Heathens, and other Pagans do the same. The pictures and symbols bypass the conscious mind, which often helps me get to the real root(s) of whatever I'm dealing with. Of those I know who do readings for others, most will tell you it's basically "if you continue as you're going now, these are things that are likely to come up." No one is "telling the future" because the future is based on your free will and choices.

If you're a Witch you must be skilled in foretelling things.
Once my spacecraft lands on your planet, I'm eager to know what dangers I will encounter as a Navigator.
Sailing through the deep space can be tiresome these days. So I must know what challenges will I face exploring the new quadrants...
We might have free will and choices, but some things also depend on circumstances :)
If those are favorable it means you have options, if not you'll probably face choosing between two bad things, so you'll have to chose the less bad one.:D

Also speaking of witches and witchers I wonder what's happening with The Witcher series.... it was interesting to watch it 2 years ago... seems they'll start shotting the second season somewhere in December.
I liked it even though I'm more like a sci-fi fan rather than a fantasy one....

I wish! I could've avoided a lot of stupid.

I enjoyed The Witcher more than I thought I would. My hubby liked it enough to get the books. I think he's on the 2nd or 3rd book now.

At some point it had a rating of 9 on IMDb.
Of course there was the pandemic, but 2 years of waiting for a new season ??
The Netflix team sure likes to pull the time...
I watch it to see what's all the fuss about it ? And it was quite good .
I've heard something that they made the series after a video game which was made after a Polish writer's book.
Since it had success they made the series...
Also there was Yennefer of Vengerberg who was deformed in the beginning of the show....
And I've seen this somewhere lol :)

Almost certainly no, but that's technically a maybe, so that was my vote. Though I don't understand what the poll question has to do with the thread title.

UFO's and aliens are kinda part of the paranormal which has this huge palette of themes...

Here are a few people who do believe in aliens :)
https://www.livescience.com/59182-famous-people-who-believe-in-aliens.html
Among them Ridley Scott, Hillary Clinton and Gillian Anderson :)
What's the difference between a religious believer who believes in God and the one who believes in aliens ?
Neither of them have not seen probably anything, but they still believe in something...
Probably that's what's keeping them alive.
Hope.

Isn't paranormal more ghosts than aliens? I can handle horror but not little girl ghosts and poltergeists. I can watch most films but not Flatliners.
Flatliners is ROUGH movie! Perfectly understandable.

If you have trouble with creepy kids, do not watch The Shining. I finally saw it last year. In daytime. Thankfully, I was pretty focused on the film-making, which kept me from freaking out too much.

I'm not big on most horror because I don't really like gore and jump-scares, but 15 seasons of Supernatural made me realize that a good story can be in any genre.

Same with The Sixth Sense which is another film I could never watch alone. The first time I watched the remake of The Ring was meant to be with my girlfriend at the time but we had a row so she fell asleep on the sofa and I ended up watching it alone. That film is messed up but there is behind the scenes footage online to help me realise it was just a film.

It’s not quite the same. Unless you are one of the people who believes in things like stargates or aliens in the hollow moon.

Belief that aliens exist out there, somewhere is a statistical inference more than a belief.

That's part of the problem - ideas about alien life range all the way from statistical inference to tinfoil hat conspiracy nuts. Perhaps that's why it gets lumped in with paranormal phenomena so often.

Again, I blame Chris Carter.

My late uncle went to his own grave maintaining that he saw the ghost of his mother moving along the road. Dogs woke the family up. My cousins all swore they saw it.

HPL’s Dunwich has nothing on Vernon, Alabama and other areas here.

As a child I overheard my parents and their siblings talk about a woman with dog headed babies…not a trace of a smile on their faces: “go in yonder.”

A horribly obese man…Troy Wofford I believe the name was…was said to have exploded on the streets of Vernon. Eels infest Hell’s Creek. My Mom told me of a man who had a flap of skin that covered half his face. Apart from the legends of Shades Creek…The Face in the Glass at Carrollton AL is our most famous specter.

Here even the tornadoes that lash our state are thought to have supernatural strength.

Parents hush their children during outbreaks lest the beast hear them—and turn. This very night, Ida threatens to spawn yet more.

During the 1998 nighttime F-5 that struck Oak Grove, a young girl in a church exclaimed she heard voices despite the shrieking din outside exclaim “we need more angels…”

I’ll not call her a lier.
