Paranoid Nightmares

Ok, so I'm not the shut-in type who's afraid of every little noise, but tonight, everytime I drift off to sleep, I awake from the same nightmare that someone is trying to break into my home and kill me. For the last few hours, I've been fighting this paranoid feeling that just as soon as I close my eyes and get into a deep sleep, something horrible is going to happen.

The logical part of me argues that this is just crazy dream stuff. That the chances of something like that happening in my city and neighborhood are infintesmial, but still there is this nugget of primal fear gnawing at me.

So anyone have any ideas on how to fight this nightmare? I have done everything I can to "batten down the hatches" and give myself a safe feeling, but I can't shake this nightmare.

It's been a long long time since I've felt this spooked.

Ugh, I hate it when that happens. I usually watch TV in bed until I eventually drift off to sleep. When I leave the TV on I tend to have dreams about whatever is playing instead of having nightmares. But sometimes you just can't shake those bad feelings. We moved into a new apartment two weeks ago and on the first night we slept here I had a horrible dream that seemed very real. Someone was pounding on the front door and my boyfriend answered. From my bed I heard them arguing and two women screaming at him that he had to leave the apartment immediately because someone had just been murdered there. They pointed out a whole bunch of blood stains on the carpet...the next morning I checked and some of the stains were actually there, though I'm sure they weren't really blood...but the whole thing freaked me out and sleeping there the second night wasn't easy! It didn't help that my cat was acting very spooked and I kept hearing strange noises in the middle of the night.

Anyway, I hope that you feel better and can get some sleep. In the morning things won't seem nearly as bad.
