Panomec For Green Budgie S**ts?

My Budgie has had the shits for a few weeks and they've become really green and wet so I took him to the vet. To me it looks like gastroenteritis and from what i've read online that seems the case to others too but the vet seems to think it's some kind of parasitic infection even though the budgie he shares a cage with has been fine all these weeks.

He gave him a dose of Panomec and dropped the liquid onto the back of the budgies neck and said come back in a week he may need a second dose.

Does anyone have any similar experience with their pets? I don't want to be giving my budgie parasite meds, two doses of it!!! when all he needs is a shot of antibiotics for gastroenteritis.

There's something Extra Strength Oil of Oregano won't cure? :wtf:
I thought it did cure him.

I thought it did too but it hadn't. I don't think he drank enough. I was under the impression his poo had cleared up but I was wrong, there's another bird in with him and there's that much husk on the bottom I didn't see his green shit and just saw good shit  so thought he was cured.
I'm still putting the oil in his water though.

I've had Budgies before generally when they get this sick they are doomed.

Hopefully your situation works out better, but even the vet couldn't cure the last one we had.

:(

Yeah I know. They are engaging little fellows. Tyson knew two phrases and a whole bunch of funky whistle and "beep" like sounds. I spent alot of time "programming" him it was very sad when he croaked.

Tyson was a grey-blue male. What sort are yours?

So are they in pairs then? The one that is sick and its mate should be isolated from the other two if you can.

Yeh i've isolated him when I came back from the vet (he's now in the small cage I use to transport them to the vet), didn't want the other one cleaning him and licking the parasite med off and swallowing it.
I have the two females in one large cage and the two males in another large cage.
