Panasonic Projection TV - any ideas to fix horizontal lines

I thought I would take a shot at posting this before diving too far into the problem.

Today my neighbors put a 47 inch Panasonic Cinema HD projection TV on their lawn with a sign that said it was free and to take it. The sign mentioned that it worked, but that there were lines.

I brought it in and connected a DVD player to it. It does work. The line problem are wavy horizontal lines that go all the way across. The picture is viewable, but the lines look similar to watching tv with an antenna where the reception was off just a bit.

Any ideas? I don't mind pulling the cover off and getting my hands dirty, I just know a hell of a lot more about computer than TVs.

photos of these lines might be useful for diagnosis. Are they fixed or moving about? do they appear with dvd playback or only with tuner? compare S-video, composite video and RF input. Do they have correct colours where they are supposed to?

Do the wavey lines take time to appear, or are they always there? Do they fade over time or get worse?

If you change between widescreen to 4:3 letterbox mode, are these lines compressed with the picture? Are they different or the same waves? Do they magnify when the picture is zoomed?

If they're at the top of the screen, it could be retrace also. This would be corrected by adjusting vertical size.

Many of these projkection types have 3 projectors, one for each color (not DLP though, it works differently), so adjusting 1 would make adjusting all three become necessary for the convergence to stay correct.

There are 3 projectors. The wavey lines are from top to bottom, but are a little worse at the top and bottom, and not as bad in the middle.

Sounds like convergence issues.
