ABOUT PALM SPRINGS
When carefree Nyles (Andy Samberg) and reluctant maid of honor Sarah (Cristin Milioti) have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding, things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other.

The film stars Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, J.K. Simmons, Meredith Hagner, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, and Peter Gallagher. PALM SPRINGS is directed by Max Barbakow and written by Andy Siara.

The film is produced by Andy Samberg, Becky Sloviter, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, Dylan Sellers, and Chris Parker, and Gabby Revilla Lugo serves as executive producer. The film is produced by Limelight and Lonely Island Classics with Neon serving as the theatrical distributor.

It is available on Hulu. I just watched it. It is really really good. Funny, creative and fresh.

I would describe it as a "boy meets girl" rom-com meets groundhog day but R rated. It also has some deep character moments. The movie gets into the philosophical implications of a time loop.

Andy Samderg is great. He definitely plays a more serious character here than what he does in Brooklyn 99. Christi Milioti is fantastic. JK Simmons is great too.

Why is it R-rated?

Why is it R-rated?

For Sexual Content, Language, Drug Use and some Violence. There are a couple sex scenes. No nudity but you can see the characters grinding. There is a scene with a character jerking off. No nudity but you can clearly see his arm moving where it is obvious what he is doing. There is another scene of a man going down on a woman. Again, no nudity but it is obvious from the position what is happening and you can hear the woman moan. There are some scenes with characters taking drugs. There is some violence where characters are killed by getting shot with arrows and ran over by cars. And there are a lot of F bombs. Those are the notable scenes that most likely gave the movie an R rating.

Thought it was fun. like you said, Rom-Com Groundhog day, but we're coming in after he's been stuck in the loop for a LONG time, and then we see the entry of Sarah into the same loop and how that changes things up. Essentially we're getting the parts Groundhog day skipped over (the boredom, the suicides, all the way to just giving up and acceptance), and coming in towards the end of the movie.

Enjoyed it, worth a watch. Not a new classic or anything, but entertaining.

At the end, after Sarah blows up the cave, we see Nyles and Sarah back in the pool again, but there is a new family apparently living in the house obviously upset at these two trespassers. Can we assume then that they go thrown out of the time loop far into the future where they normally would have been had they not been stuck? So Nyles and Sarah experienced the equivalent of years in the time loop so they got thrown out years later?

Also, what's with the dinosaurs? Did the time loop create an alternate timeline where dinosaurs did not go extinct? Or maybe an alternate timeline where dinosaurs are brought back ala Jurassic Park?

There's a part of the movie that deals with Phil trying several ways of ending it all. Driving off the cliff and the toaster come to mind. His boredom with everything. Granted, there could be more. But saying it skips over it is not giving enough credit to it I feel.

Did anyone else feel that the character of Nana Schlieffen the one who told both Nyles and Sarah they gave great speeches also was stuck in the loop?

There was something about what and how she talked with them that made me feel like she was caught in the same loop.

Watched this tonight. Nothing amazing but as time loop movies going it was fairly entertaining and tried to be different. I am not a rom com fan but this was an easily passable, fun 90 minute movie.

But did they actually escape? When the goat was blown up it disappeared from the time loop but in a post credits scene Roy finds Nyles at the wedding party. What does that mean?

They mention in the pool that they guess it's November 10th now (the next day)

As for the Dinosaurs. It didn't look so clear, it looks more like a trick of the light and the rocks looked like Dinosaurs.

I've heard a lot of good things about this one, but I haven't taken the time to watch it yet.
