At its E3 2010 party -- a 30th anniversary celebration for Pac-Man -- Namco Bandai showed the pilot for a 3D animated series, produced by former Marvel exec Avi Arad. The show disappeared like a ghost monster's body until today,

Pac-Man — The Adventure Begins, which probably means it’s a prequel. It will air in 3-D,
Disney is making a 3-D 'Pac-Man' TV show
and
will air in fall 2013 on Disney XD.
The show will be produced by Avi Arad, known for his work on films based on Marvel Comics superheroes Spider-Man and Iron Man.

It will probably be similar quality CGI to the TRON: Uprising micro-series on Disney XD airing Autumn 2012.

These are the first sci-fi and at least one of them being 3-D series I know of that Disney XD is doing for television.

So who exactly are they promoting this show to? Most of the people who grew up with Pac-Man don't watch animated kids shows, and most kids think of Pac Man as "That dumb game our parents liked".

I have a Pac-Man game in my coffee shop....its a cash cow. While all ages play it, it take great satisfaction watching 35+ kick the butts of kids who grew up with Xboxes.

Shit, it's damn-near "that dumb game our grandparents liked."

This was chosen to capitalize off the recent success of the Muppet movie. Kids will hear "wokka wokka wokka" and think it's Fozzie. Run, kids! It's a trap!

Not in my family. It's still parents. My mom and dad are in their 60s.

Eh, it depends on how you want to look at it, I suppose.

I'm in my 30s (my parents also in their 60s) and I can't say I've much memory of Pac-Man and most other Atari games, I remember them being there but only during my very young years. Nintendo is more what I think was part of "my generation" but, I guess, Atari could have strong arguments there and we just never had one.

Never-the-less Pac-Man was a product of the 1980s, thirty years ago, and is hardly going to be relevant to kids out there today being born with 20-something parents who themselves grew up nearly a decade after Pac-Man was relevant.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder if there will be a new game made alongside this, because without one, it would be rather pointless.

My earliest video game memory is of playing on my uncle's Atari system and then on the one we had later at home. And then I remember playing Pac-Man at our local pizza parlor. I'm 32 and I also remember when the NES first came out. It was awesome!
