Hasn't eReader gone out of business? That's the format I had a few books in, and a while back I got an e-mail offering me a chance to convert them to Nook format before they stopped being offered in eReader, and I missed the window because I was too busy with other stuff. So now I'll no longer be able to transfer those books to a new computer when I replace my current one.

Nope, I just got a new Kobo aura(to replace my kobo glo) and Amazon Kindle is still very much in business. I just prefer reading ebooks on an e-ink screen rather than an LCD screen on a tablet.

I didn't say Kindle or Kobo, I said eReader. I thought you meant the specific brand/format of that name, but you seem to be talking about a type of device. If you use Kindle, then the Scribd service should work for it, as I said before.

It appears Scribd is only supported on Kindle Fire tablets, not on an e-ink Kindle (or e-ink Nook, for that matter.) I just signed up for the free trial, and I'm investigating the possibility of side-loading onto my Nook, as I'm not a big fan of e-reading on a tablet (such as my iPad.)

Have you tried converting your old books into one of the newer formats with a converter program like calibre?

Have you tried converting your old books into one of the newer formats with a converter program like calibre?

First the DRM would have to be stripped. That may or may not be easy if the credit card used to purchase them no longer exists and you no longer have the number.
