Over a Torrent Sea

PluckyNinja

I just picked up The Titan novel Over a Torrent Sea. Its my first Trek book in quite a while. I haven't started it yet, do I need to have knowledge of the events of Destiny or rather should I, before reading it? All I've heard of Destiny is that it involves Universe changing... stuff. I may very well pick up the three books anyway so what should I read first?

Thanks :)

Of all the immediate post-Destiny novels, Over a Torrent Sea is the most indirect followup. It's pretty much a self-contained story. Several characters are dealing with the aftermath of the events of Destiny, but everything that's significant is explained in the text itself.

However, reading OaTS first would spoil a lot of the surprises in Destiny, so if you do intend to read the trilogy anyway, you should definitely read it first.

I'd recommend reading Destiny first, just because it's better. Over A Torrent Sea is a beautiful book, one of the best Titan's, don't get me wrong, but Destiny is something else entirely. And you probably don't want it spoiled for you.

I've been holding off on reading it, though I have it sitting on the shelf, waiting. I want to read the David Mack Destiny novels first.
