"Outland" (2012) remake Warner Bros. had in development?

What happened to this feature film remake in development?

On August 18, 2009, studio Warner Brothers announced that director Michael Davis had been hired to direct a remake of the film from a script by Chad St. John. No casting or start date information was announced.

This would work better as a miniseries or a TV series with the police procedural aspect.

I wish they'd go after the BBC's 80s show Star Cops instead.

Star Trek used to be "Star Cops," whenever they dealt with Federation outposts and colonies, but after TOS they pretty much dropped that angle.

Star Cops (1987) was my choice in a TV series ripe for a reboot in last month's thread.
I could see it being a miniseries on SyFy.

I really love the original of this film, very atmospheric.

I don't care if they remake it or not, i'll take the new movie on its own merits.
