Others should have elegant Arrowhead-like designs

The "boomerang" was the symbol for the Federation, similar to the national flag flown on navy ships. Even though the navy has it's own symbol.
The boomerang was placed in the same spot on the Constitution class that was later taken up by the arrowhead, providing more than enough suggestion to me this was the Starfleet symbol. Besides, we only ever see the boomerang in Starfleet settings, and was used as the chest insignia on the Defiant.

It more than likely is the Starfleet symbol, since the wording on the refit Enterprise said "Starship U.S.S. Enterprise - United Federation of Planets". With that established, the emblem signifies it's a Starfleet vessel in the Federation.

Enough with the snarkiness. You complain about other people "trolling" but you're the one being hostile.

Dial it back, please.
I'm replying to what's being communicated to me. Dial it back? How does the suggestion that I'm seeking "brownie points" add anything to the discussion, let alone make sense, or not intended to offend?

Furthermore, if you have a warning to give, or just a suggestion to make, what if you gave it in private instead of de facto taking a side in internet ridiculousness, if you're not going to "police" it more granularly?

Wow, ENT is good at this. I thought of another one.
The Vulcan Science Directorate.
(When it comes to the possibility of Humano Vulcan interbreeding....they're more likely to believe in time travel...)

The Vulcans get to be dry and boring. They're Vulcan, and it could translate in their language more succinctly.

Dungeon Master? ;)
Please. This is Star Trek. Dahar Master.

And, Kelsey, wherever you are, you can Direct Message this Dahar Master, anytime.

I replied publically to your public behavior. That's what moderators do.

There's nothing "trolling" about the "brownie points" comment that I can see. I don't know why you're taking it so personally. It's funny.

Lastly, and you've been around long enough to know this, don't derail threads with arguments about moderator actions. I asked you to dial it back. It's not even like I gave you a formal infraction or anything. Just accept the feedback and move on.

I thought moderators gave warnings when posters were out of line, participated in the fun when not, and didn't get involved in conversations that otherwise shouldn't involve them, given their position. But okay, if you'd like to talk, let's.

If the absurd and insulting notion that I was seeking "brownie points" is okay, what was so absurd and insulting about my "offering him a moist towelette"?

So, again, to be clear, you're alright with sarcasm and snark for its own sake, so long as its done by some but not others? Or, if it's done by everyone, if should be done with a practiced light enough a touch to fly under your radar. And if I reply with more sarcasm and snark for its own sake and little else much the same as I'm responding to, so long as I do it with light enough a touch -- no ripples in your soup -- then we can all breezily keep insulting each other on the internet, and you won't have to register any of it in your reports to Number 1?

I think I've had to speak to a moderator about two or three different threads here among the hundreds if not thousands I've participated in. Usually settled in Conversations. If moderators would like to "derail" threads with their public input, very well. I will speak where spoken to.

It wasn't Snark or ill willed in any way, nor sarcasm. I was looking for examples of that which you seek, and believe Trek to be lacking in.

Like "Here's a good example. Do they get credit for that?"

You already know that comments to mods should be made via PM, and yet you persist in publicly arguing with @1001001 about that very subject. Between this and the general over-the-line behavior toward people who participate in your threads but don't agree with your premises, in this and at least one other thread here recently, you've earned a formal Warning. Comments to PM. I'd recommend using your temp ban to grow a thicker skin and/or a lighter attitude about being disagreed with.

I've always thought that the full name for the organisation should be either "The Federation Starfleet" or "The Starfleet of the United Federation of Planets", as they refer to themselves as Federation starships at least as often as any other term. "Starfleet Command" would be (to use US examples) "The Pentagon", "The Joint Chiefs"/"National Security Council" with "Starfleet Operations" as the equivalent of the "Office of the CNO" and equivalents.

This is the best thread on Trekbbs. Bravo!

{sigh} How does someone with 16 years and over 5200 postings on this board spiral so far out of control??

I do miss the various emblems we saw in TOS. I was OK with the Delta becoming Starfleet's standard logo but I did think it was a bit trite. I changed my mind after some of the discussions here. It was pointed out the Delta was used by non Enterprise personnel. My head canon incorporated the idea the various emblems were not ship specific but various Starfleet sections or divisions. The Enterprise was operating under the UESPA division of Starfleet.

I love the discussions about the uniform patches. One of the things I learned a lot more about from reading those topics.
