OT: Where to Buy Episodes?

Hi All,

I was talking with a friend the other day and promised to buy him a copy of The Cage since we were talking about it and he never knew it existed.

So I hopped on over to Amazon Prime Video and The Cage is there, but not for individual sale. Went on Apple's site, and it's not there at all. Paramount+ is a subscription... And I'm out of ideas...

Anybody know where TOS episodes can be bought a la carté as a gift?

Thanks!

Have you though about simply getting him a blu ray set?

But if you don't wanna spend that money, you can find the individual DVD volumes from 1999 on Ebay and other places for cheap. Just get him The Cage.

Try here. $6

I had the same thought, but finding "The Cage" isn't easy. Your link is to "The Menagerie".

Though there is Star Trek: Origins on Blu-ray for $9.67. It has a copy of "The Cage".

Thanks guys... I appreciate your responses...

I don't really want to buy a set because A - this person is a friend, but not that good of a friend and it'd be weird if I sent a $60 box set just because of a conversation... and B - we were specifically discussing a topic related to The Cage (illusions, fantasy realities, and how they could help people cope with disability and advanced age). The other 30 episodes of the season wouldn't be relevant.

It's really disheartening how we've gone backwards. It wasn't that long ago that I could buy any digital episode of Star Trek for $2 on iTunes and send them as gifts (which I did many times).

The original series is available to buy individually or in season sets on VUDU but I can't find The Cage, just the regular series.

I would second @Ricky Spanish's suggestion of the "Star Trek: The Original Series - Origins" blu-ray. It's a single disc with only five episodes including The Cage, and can be found for under ten bucks.

Tell me about it. The format I watch old shows in is on mp4 broadcast over my analog station. That means I need to have the physical file. Many shows just aren't available except through streaming platforms which means you have to watch it their way or not at all. You never get to own the show, just rent it.

Plus, it's often in weird aspect ratios, bad sound, etc.

Currenty on Amazon, I am able to watch "The Cage" with Prime Video subscription but without additional charge under the "Extras" tab on the HD episode page. You can buy the SD episode for $1.99 under the "Extras" tab on the non-remastered page.

Yes, that's a great way form someone to sample something they are unfamiliar with.
