OT -- Floating City WIP

I did a version of this idea last year with a terrain base, but I've decided to go with the full tech version. Kind of a Cloud City/Boston album cover vibe lol...

Made with a combination of my buildings and some of DAZ' excellent Dystopia city blocks set.

ty for the kind words all... here's some more color and a little texture for the streets, plus I like how the black background brings it out...

Went away from the colors for this one... added a ring of hotels on the outer edge amd some textures for the shuttlebay doors, and some retexturing here and there.

This bears a fair resemblance to the city of Mainframe from the CGI animated series ReBoot. Not too shabby.

I like that there's very little symmetry to the layout of the buildings in the inner part of the city.

The texturing over an ocean made me think of another flight-capable city...

...ever try and do up an Ancient city ship?

(If you did the one at Asuras, you could put this city as part of the wider Asuran metropolis where the Asurans built their Atlantis-alike...)

I've actually only watched any of the SG series here or there... saw the movie in the theaters back in the day. They're on the "I'll get to that eventually if I live long enough" list lol... but I do like the way Atlantis looks.

Nice one. I for some reason liked the coloured city a lot as well.

The ship in the foreground reminds me a lot of Serenity from "Firefly," like they could have been built by the same people.

^^someone on dA said the same thing, it's a DAZ model so I imagine the creator used the Firefly-class for inspiration... ty all, more to come. The poly count is pushing the limit of what my old computer can handle lol, but I'm working on some more tweaks.


...and I am going to bring some color back, I like it both ways.

Went with a blue scheme for the lights, two subway rings, and the "Scramble" pic convinced me to add some defense cannon positions around the outside.

Wow. I think with the direction this is going, you could almost put a dome over it, and attach it to an asteroid. That would look incredible.

^^actually, I have a dome already made from a previous project and I was thinking about trying them together lol... I'll have to do that now -- I was thinklng Mars but the asteroid is a great idea!

A beauty shot with the latest version of the floating city, with glass windows ... there's an HDRI version in the works but given Bryce's sloooooow use of that, I hope I live long enough to post it!
