(OT? - but with some Trek lit-related names) Author magazine

KLauderdale

Today we went live with Author Magazine: http://www.authormagazine.org.

Author is an online publication for writers and readers. It will regularly feature video interviews by Voyages of Imagination author Jeff Ayers (the first issue includes Clive Cussler and Doug Preston) and book reviews by--among others--me.

We hope you will surf over and enjoy.

Sweet.

Anything we can do to help further Jeff's quest for world domination, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: (OT? - but with some Trek lit-related names) Author maga

I, for one, will welcome our new writer overlords.

Re: (OT? - but with some Trek lit-related names) Author maga

Seems pretty nifty, thanks for the heads up.

Jacks.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Not that I'm an expert (as you can tell from my site), but there are a few little problems with the site, like the home link on the main page leading to a nonexistent page, the home page appearing on the left of the browser window and the other pages being centered, images being squeezed by HTML width and height tags instead of being properly resized in Photoshop or something, and slightly blurry text for the section links.

I think it would be helpful to add some reader feedback options, too, whether it's allowing comments on the editor's blog, setting up a small forum, whatever.

Cool idea, though. The video interviews with writers could be a big draw.

Oh. Well, I ain't much of neither. Guess it's back to surfing porn for me.

To draw reluctant readers such as yourself, I'll be reviewing, in a couple months, Mike Edison's I Have Fun Everywhere I Go. Edison has worked at High Times, High SOCIETY and Cheri, Main Event (the top professional wrestling mag of its time), and hung with the likes of Evel Knievel and Ozzy O. You might even pick up a few tricks from him as he relates his adventures cranking out (so to speak) porn paperbacks.

High Society? Cheri? I used to work at that company, too. Heh. :)

Very cool site!

The Cussler interview was very entertaining

As promised, my review of Mike Edison's book is now up at http://www.authormagazine.org/reviews.htm.

And, apparently "Aces" was the magic word: Trek writer Scott Pearson will be joining the crew starting with the May "issue." Scott will do some reviews and maybe some other writing later. Scott's not only talented with a pen, but he works for a publisher, and he always has great tales from the front lines to tell at Shore Leave.

Thanks, Kevin, your check's in the mail.

Yes, I'm happy to say Jeff Ayers invited me to come aboard and try my hand at reviewing. I'm reading my first book for review right now: The Science of Sherlock Holmes. I'd tell you what I think so far . . . but that would ruin the surprise.

As long as I make my deadline and don't totally screw things up, you'll be able to read the review in about a month.

Scott,

I'm so happy you said yes! I expect at least thirty reviews a month. I hope that won't be a problem. :rommie:

I have plans to interview some Trek authors for the site very soon. (Now that I've figured out how to do audio).

Jeff

Hey, I can read at least that much jacket copy in a month . . . ;)
