In case you're watching the Oscars today, startrek.com reports that the program's memorial reel of film industry people who passed away in the past year will feature Charles C. Washburn, aka "Charlie Star Trek". Article here.

Below is what I posted when I read about Mr. Washburn's death last April (and an event that Trektoday never even mentioned).

Larry Nemecek's blog reports that Charles C. "Charlie Star Trek" Washburn has passed away of April 13th, age 73 (link).

Charlie was reportedly the first-ever African-American to be a 2nd Assistant Director in Hollywood, in 1967. Charlie worked on Star Trek and four episodes of TNG amongst many other TV series.

His IMDB listing (link).

Very nice to remember him. I honestly first learned of the man's work when he wrote an extraordinarily fine article for STARLOG back in the mid-80s.

Thanks for posting this.
