Here's the news article

the Court of Arbitration for Sport have over-turned the IAAF's ruling that Pistorius's "feet" gave him an advantage over able-bodied runners so he's now eligible to run in Beijing. He still has to qualify, but here's hoping we can see him run in the summer :techman:

He's about a second too slow.

And all along I thought an already qualified runner was being kept out.

I just read an article on this, and this is very good news. The blades may be energy efficient, but I would bet they're only energy efficient for a guy without feet... I sincerely doubt it would give him an advantage above and beyond anyone else. He's just barely too slow now, but I'm glad he's getting an opportunity.

Well at least now he gets the chance to qualify. If he's too slow to get in, then it's fair that he doesn't go - but it's wrong not to allow him the chance.

Good, it's the right decision imo.

But, (I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but it's somewhat related), even more impressive is the story of another South African amputee athlete - Natalie Du Toit - I read a couple weeks ago. She's a successful long distance swimmer even with just one leg (no protheses), and has qualified for Beijing too.
