Capaldi's favourite villain apparently. Parting gift for the 12th Doctor?

I wonder if this will factor into how he regenerates. It would make sense that Capaldi's favorite villain would be the one to kill his doctor.

Funny enough I was only talking about these Cybermen earlier today. Ecstatic as fuck they're turning up, were in my top three of "things I really really want to return to Doctor Who but probably never will" (the others being The Valeyard and Paul McGann for more than 6 or so minutes).

My expectations for series 10 were fairly low but this has just hyped it up for me a shit ton now.

I guess it's ironic that all it took for Capaldi to finally get the one thing he's kept asking for is to leave.

And look who visited the set last week. I wonder if got to meet them again?

It was a very pleasant surprise to read of their return. Nice connection between series 10 and Tenth Planet.

It would make for an interesting parallel with William Hartnell as his last story introduced the Cybermen.

BTW, if I saw this announcement upon any site other than the official BBC, I would suspect it were a hoax.

He's still got this Christmas to go as well, though.

And having managed to get past the photo now I see Michelle Gomez is also back, which makes (at least) 4 of the 12 episodes that she's in.

That's really cool. Seeing those villains again is nice, and I like how they've done the look.

Wow, this is fantastic news! I've been wanting this since the series returned. And I can't believe they're using the very original design. I originally didn't like but I've grown to love it because of the makeshift design of the whole thing. I sure hope the sing-song speech also returns.

So did I. It sounded too awesome to be true.

is this a prequel to Tenth Planet... can't be as the Mondasians don't recognise the Doctor in TP.. and they would have said so if they did.

I don't know if this was announced before, but that article was the first time I noticed Bill's last name is Potts.

I always thought that was the creepiest take on the Cybermen, they seemed so much more horrifying than the armor encased types. With some of the fleshy features and the cloth covered faces helped convey the sens of violation in the conversion process.

Only one picture, but it looks more like a latex encased face rather than the original cloth.

    Otherwise, I'm excited by this.

Oh...well, I'm a little less excited now. I would've preferred the original Mondasian Cybermen exclusively, but I guess this better than nothing.
