won't go into Devs too much as no want to spoil anything if no seen it , but completed watching this mind blowing Alex Garland series a few nights ago and after abit began to think if it was along the lines of what Orci was going to do with ST3.. not the usual time travel stuff but more to do with Many Worlds theories (and a device that can traverse them) . In Orci's tweets that seemed to be what was hinted rather than timetravel (again and only one movie after it was last used), and in ST09 and all the interviews at the time there was lots of reference to Quantum Mechanics/ManyWorlds theories (and even STID presented an alternate Many Worlds version of TWOK) so it looks like this was going to be explored fully in ST3 (and as a legitimate way to bring back Shatner Kirk).
Anyway that stuff wouldve been way more intriguing than what we got in Beyond imo (not having a pop at Beyond just how i feel after being wowed by Devs and then recalled that Orci's ST3 was going for that) and if the Hemsworth ST4 was adapting the Orci ST3 then that too is a bit of a loss (again imho)
