Solid, but sometimes over the top on fan service.

They were hired and did a fabulous job. I quite enjoyed both films.

Overall, solid characterization and interesting story lines in line with what I would expect from Star Trek in general, TOS in particular.

I think Trek 09 needed one more rewrite have a real strong polish on it and that a couple of lines could have been left in that would have clarified some points of debate.

But, that is a bit of armchair quaterbacking. I'm satisfied with their work.

I love it, ('cept new ship design) Trek has never been so bold.

I liked what they did. I have some quibbles over plot devices, but their work is overall good.

I think the script for Trek 09 was better than what was ultimately put on screen in certain regards, but other thant hat, they did okay.

Concur - particularly since things inserted as fun fanservice Easter Eggs tended to just provide excessive nitpick fodder (i.e. use of the name "Delta Vega" in '09)

My guess it would have been slightly more polished if it hadn't been for the writer's strike during filming.

    I think they did ok.

Obviously it's impossible to please everyone and we all know the vocal opposition to their work.

But to have two $200m+ Star Trek movies in North America shows they did succeed in reviving the brand.

Orci and Kurtzman had nothing to do with the design of the ship.

    This.

If it weren't for this BBS, I'd probably never have known (or cared, for that matter) that some people didn't like them or their work.

Still don't care, but now I know.

Outside of Trek? I find them to be hit or miss sometimes. Within Trek, though? I think they did pretty darn well.

One thing that strikes me, that I wasn't expecting to be frank, was the return to the 60s vibe. Sure, the costumes and phasers are from TOS, but I'm talking about a larger 1960s feel to it all. Vibrant, dynamic, kinetic, fun, as if they tapped into 60s culture and philosophy along with TOS.

Star Trek was an fun, clever reboot for the franchise - I really enjoyed it. With STID, It was as though I waited the whole movie to get to the good bit... and it never came. I wish the case had been otherwise.

I'd say more than solid, I especially love the little character stuff they throw in, but this.

Assuming it was either of them that scripted Spock's "KHAAAAAAAAAN!"

They've done a pretty fantastic job with those first two new movies.

I viewed it on a theater screen via projection.
