Orci admits to further lazy writing ;-)

Looks like ranting Twitter troll Roberto Orci has learned nothing from the mistakes of the previous films. Still, at least they make a lot of money, eh? :bolian:

I read that and it just comes across as "I'll write a fairly basic action movie script and then take what I need from the works of other people to make it look suitably Trekky and interesting".

And let's not get started on the "none more black" Kirk that Pine wants to portray. Ugh.

Oh yeah? Maybe you could quote the passage that you think comes across that way?

I'll put it another way. I read the article at the link, and don't see what you mean. Hence my question. So.... make your case.

Umm what is this thread about? Orci gave a non-answer. He's repeated what he's been saying since 2009. Working with a alt. universe gives him the ability to address canon and create original stories.

I just want Karl Urban to have a bigger role in the next film. He has been severely underused thus far.

Is this what you have interpreted as Orci saying he's going to write an action script while 'stealing' the ideas of other Trek writers?

Would Orci and his cowriters focus on an original Trek story next time or stay in the classic Trek world?

“Little bit of both,” Orci said. “Part of the fun of the freedom that we bought ourselves is that you can harmonize with canon and you can echo what’s come before, so you can do it in a new way.”

He's really not admitting to anything, Certainly not even mentioning 'action movie' You can read what you want to between the lines. I want to read that CommishSleer is going to have a guest spot in the next Star Trek movie.

Haha! I do love the way this board has been taken over by the pro-Abrams brigade. Nice to know you're all still here.

It just seems like you're really reaching for something to complain about. Then are upset other people aren't reading the same thing "between the lines" that you are.

I interpret that quote as saying that they are going to continue to blend star trek with new stuff like they did with the first 2 movies.

In Star Trek (2009), they wrote an original story (a romulan from the future goes back in time, bent on revenge) but added stuffto tie in with classic trek as well (we saw the birth of Kirk, Spock as a child, Vulcan, the Enterprise, Old Spock, etc).

In Into Darkness, they blended old and new again. We got an original story (Enterprise races to Klingon homework to arrest Federation terrorist) but blended it with old stuff (Khan, Kirk death scene mirroring Spock's in WoK, Klingons etc)

Orci is saying that they want to follow the same pattern with the next movie. What the story will be and what they will add, is anybody's guess at this point!

There's not really many passages to choose from! I'm sure you can work it out. :-)

But you're the one who's bothered. Click the link. It's not hard.

There's only the one quote from Orci in it!

What's he saying then?

Read between the lines...

The premise of the thread is pretty much trawling for reaction, so that gets it closed. Posts subsequent to the opener are nothing more than undisguised taunting, and that last one will earn you a warning for trolling; comments to PM.
