Old Enemy Returning, Maybe

In the upcoming episode "A Good Man Goes To War" the Cybermen are going to play a crucial part

Question, will they be the ones we have seen recently or the ones we haven't seen in quite some time?

There was a preview released by the BBC with one of the designers (I think) talking about the return. It is the same Cybus designs they've been using.

That's what I thought at first but the image they showed was from "The Pandorica Opens" because Rory or some other plastic Roman soldier is standing face to face with it. I'm just hoping that they are the ones from our universe.

Personally I find this particular enemy a bit boring. I also find the whole discussion about the original vs the new series version a bit boring as well. Regardless of if it's one or the other, as far as I can see they'll act pretty much the same as each other unless they somehow write them differently.

We've also heard that two other Alien Races are apparently returning in ep 7 as well. Frankly I find this a bit annoying as well. Why do we need multiple enemies/races? Having multiple enemies is meant to be scary and cool, but I prefer one enemy who is much tougher to defeat for different reasons to defeating them in the past. If it's just "we're here to take over the Earth/blow up the universe/all of reality" I find that a tad predictable.

Exactly. Cybermen are Cybermen, and parallel Earths are parallel Earths.

Maybe they'll be Cybermen from the most recent universe:guffaw:

I don't think they will be enemies, I think they will be recruited by Rory to work for him and the Doctor.

As I understand, the Cybermen we're seeing in A Good Man Goes to War are supposed our universe's Cybermen, they just look similar to the Cybus ones, minus the Cybus Idustries logo on their chest (it's now just a blank circle).

Also, BBC is reporting the Silurians are returning in A Good Man Goes to War with promise of another returning alien race.

Is anything allowed to be a surprise anymore? (That isn't aimed at you The Wormhole as I already knew about the Cybes and the Silurians, I just get annoyed that the BBC go out of the way to reveal so much!)

I wonder how many people will tune in who wouldn't have before simply because the Silurians are back? 2, 3 maybe?:nyah:

In my particular defense I did put a spoiler tag in this thread and never intended to mention The Cybermen or Silurians with out a spoiler tag. That's not really aimed anyone, I was concerned about discussing spoilers for upcoming episode. Anyway, I don't think it really matters in the same way a trailer that has a scene that entices you matters.

A particular scene or clip doesn't tell you the whole story so I do think some people take some spoilers way too seriously.

A big part of Intense Spoilerphobia is you don't know, until you actually see the Spoiler just how spoilery it is. Finding out who a guest star or guest Villian is for an episode is typically no big deal for me, and can even amp up my excitement and theorizing for the episode however
finding out Michael shoots Anna Lucia and Libby in a specific episode would really dampen the intense surprise of the act

Since there's a big huge picture of the returning aliens on the home page of BBC's Doctor Who site declaring they're returning in A Good Man Goes to War I saw no need to spoiler code anything. But just in case someone is trying to maintain total secrecy, the third returning alien has been announced by the BBC.

why don't they revive the Celestial Toymaker, or the Yeti and the supreme intelligence.. that would be some Troughton/Hartnell style fun!

Whooo, that should be quite interesting but didn't I read something prior to series six that no bad guys from series 5 would show up in series 6 save for the silence?

also moffat should do his own Cybermen, and explain why the alternate reality versions, and the current versions are now obsolete, to the older updated new design.. if he can revamp the Daleks, then why not revamp the classic cybers and bring us something more akin to the original..

The only thing I read is that there were no plans to use the Daleks in S6 or to re-introudce any classic era aliens that hadn't yet been in the nu show. Everything so far has been consistent with that claim.
