Official Star Trek podcast starts next week

With the launch of a new STAR TREK television series comes one of the popular trends in media – a companion podcast series!

But you won’t need to wait for the January debut for the audio series to begin, as ENGAGE: The Official Star Trek Podcast begins next week, through the Play.It podcast network.


This podcast will be hosted by our friend, entertainment writer Jordan Hoffman, and launches with three episodes next week – featuring guest appearances by Adam Nimoy and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

This is good for weekly marketing to keep Trek in people's minds and promotional as well. I'll check it out but probably the first 3 are dropping on day 1 for some reason. Why not spread them out weekly? They don't want to mess with the 4th of July week or will not post until after the Star Trek Beyond movie premieres?
being that it is a companion podcast maybe they will have an episode for the new movie on that week?

Can't listen to it while at work, what did they cover in it?

It was very wide ranging. It was good, but I didn't pay 100% attention. Will probably relisten to episode 0.

I assume this episode is less structured than they will be in the future. It was loose but in good way. They covered some of their background with Star Trek. Some ranking, listing of what Star Treks they like, what episodes or movies they would use to introduce or re-introduce people to Star Trek, what Star Trek spinoff book series they like. Some details on what Jordan would try to include in all episodes: geek commentary (see Weird Al), polls, rankings, general commentary about Star Trek and cultural impact, and guest stars and info on the new series as available.
