Of Kirk-Fu & other martial arts

I'm 40, and I go to gradings where there are 19-20s type folks, younger, fitter, faster... and I win, because none of them can block. They just go in swinging and tire themselves out...
I remember BEING one of those folk.:guffaw:If only I had REALLY paid attention to Kwai-Chang Caine back then....

they usually succumb to the brute force mauling coupled with a wrist lock or choke. Some little guys just need to be put in their place.
I ain't very "big", but try that on me, and you'll be attempting to put your eye back in with your one good hand. ;)

Speaking of biggies, Brock Lesnar smoked Frank Mir. He's the new Tank Abbott with skill. GSP still the man, & happy Bisbing took a nap 2nd round courtesy of Hendo.

Heard it all before. Don't mean a thing til you step in the ring. & the bigger they talk, the more frequent they lose.

Pretty sure the 1962 film the 'Manchurian Candidate' is credited with having the 1st filmed Karate fight...so I've heard anyway. The fight featured Frank Sinatra as a military intelligence office and Henry Silva a N Korean agent.

I'm thinking the Matrix inspired lots of interest in the martial arts. As for me...meh.

WW 2 movies in the 40's had some Judo.
Bad Day At Black Rock (1955) with Spencer Tracy featured some cool Judo.

Okay, so I was talkin' tough, in reality I've never been in a to-the-death fight- just a couple of thwarted muggings where I didn't get a scratch, and I did not seriously injure anyone in the process. I'm actually of the Shaolin mindset- Avoid rather than check, check rather than hurt, hurt rather than maim, maim rather than kill; for all life is sacred, nor can any be replaced.

But can anyone withstand Kirk's patented Flying Butt Chop?
