Well I'm going something inspired by Peter David's immortal take on the reality behind the legend of the Great Bird of the Galaxy...

It was a free 3D model I found online, used a couple of times w/different materials in the original pic and then twice more with other ones as overlay layer plus a little brushing in PS...

I was going to wait and buy the Daz3D Eagle after payday [which I still might] but figured I'd give it a try with this first.

I'm guessing the bird is supposed to be formed by the flames coming off the exploding planet, right? That being the case, it looks too literal. Simplify it to just imply a bird shape rather than showing it in detail.

The bird actually hatched from the interior of the planet where its egg was laid... it is a literal bird, and chased the Excalibur at warp speed in PD's book.

You do realise that the Excaliber that encountered the Great Bird was and Ambassador Class ship, not Constitution.

Well you're probably right, but I don't have a model of it lol... I'll see what I can do, I'm likely to re-do it with te DAZ Eagle anyway.

Don't forget the original reference was TOS, so it does go back to the Connie's era.

Well I was thinking of a tie-in with that other franchise Patrick Stewart is known for...
