With an all-star cast of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter (and many cameos), Ocean's 8 focuses on Danny's sister who is just as talented and hungry for heists as him, and now we have a trailer:

Looks like a lot of fun and that's all I ask for these kind of films.

Matt Damon and Carl Reiner will have cameos as Linus and Saul.

^ I agree re: Soderberg, but GREAT cast. What, 3 Oscar winners? Wow. Hope they saved enough money for a good script writer and director. If they did, then I'm there.

I never finished the previous series, so I'll probably pass. I'm also not fond of a few of the folk I see in the trailer. No offense to them, just not a fan.

No Steven Soda-berg, so...... eh. I dunno

Well, it's not like Steven Soderbergh has the rights to heist films, or even Ocean's 11. That doesn't preclude Gary Ross from writing and directing a film just as fun as the trilogy Soderbergh produced (and I certainly hope it's better than 12).

Hard to say in regards to Ross. The only thing I've seen him direct is The Hunger Games (the first film). I'm sold on the extraordinary cast alone, although I'm not usually a fan of Sandra Bullock, but the rest of them are great (well, indifferent to Awkwafina).

Sodaberg has a knack for bringing out natural banter, and a naturalness in actors. He has a way, even in the most silliest of scenarios, bringing out a performance that people can connect with. He is a great character director and its one of the things thatvmade the oceans films so good, at least to me.

So, none of the same writers or same director, just a "we made a girl version" gimmick. Could be good, could be a repeat of ghostbusters.

And I agree on those things about Soderbergh, but my point is he's not the only person who's capable of doing that, so I don't think it's fair to dismiss the film out of hand simply because he's not involved.

Look like a remake of the Clooney Ocean's 11 thematically. Ocean out of prison, plans a heist/con, only it's personal for Ms. Ocean.
It was personal for Danny, too. ;)

Ah, I see what you're saying now. I thought the use of "only" was a separation from the rest of the statement, not a continuation. That would've been more clear in person.

I'm reaaaallllllly on the fense about this... What made the original trilogy work for me was the banter, especially between Clooney and Pitt.. The way Soderbergh directed them made them move along (with the exception of the forced Julia Roberts scene in 12) really well... If there are plenty of twists and turns and fun reveals like in the originals, then I'll be good with it.. And the soundtrack.. Gotta have a snappy soundtrack.

You are right. Its unfair. But so are movie prices. I lead with my gut, and my wallet follows.

Star wars eisodes 1 - 3 had three solid actors, all who fell kinda flat.

a director can do a lot.
