Oberth vs the borg

I loved when the B-O-P decloaked he said ''what is that?'':wtf: DUDE are you serious?! The Klingon's have been useing that basic design for over a century! plus, he should have said ''raise shilds'' first, THEN ask questions!

Yeah, there was obviously a good reason he was commanding a lowly science vessel. But his poor crew... :(
I know...what a waste!:( what was starfleet thinking sending JUST a small poorly armed science vessel? they would have been better off sending a lightly maned miranda class vessel!
Especially since it was a quarantined system...

Miranda kinda is a death trap. Have you ever seen a miranda that survived the engagement it was in?

I'd just like to add, even SULU knew it was a klingon B-O-P after it decloaked!:vulcan: and at the time HE was not a captain!

Yes,
*Several were part of the retreating fleet at the start of "A Time to Stand"
*At least one survived Operation Return.
*Several survived the First Battle of Chin'toka
*Several survived the Battle of Cardassia

Out of the dozens of Miranda's we saw during the Dominion War, I can only remember seeing 5 actually destroyed and four of those were the Sitak and Majestic!

why was atleast 1 Oberth class present at Wolf 359? not to mention the 2 Oberth ships seen at the battle of sector 001.

There were Oberth class ships in First Contact? I thought I read somewhere once that the Oberth seen leaving Veridian III at the end of Generations was the last Oberth ever seen in Star Trek.

They are referring to the "Best of Both Worlds"/"Emissary" Borg battle, not First Contact.

No, the Battle of Sector 001 (which I would pefer to call Sector 1) refers to First Contact, given that it was there where we see Starfleet ships engaging the Borg in the Sol system. TBOBW did not feature any Starfleet ships fighting the Borg in the Sol system, aside from the Enterprise and the Mars Defense Perimeter.

Imagine the look on Starfleet's face if an Oberth had managed to destroy both Cubes.

Commander: "Sir, great news, the Borg Cube heading for Earth has been destroyed!"
Admiral: "Excellent! Who did it? The Enterprise I bet! Fine crew!"
Commander: "Actually, it wasn't the Enterprise."
Admiral: "Then who?"
Commander: "It was the USS Baltar, sir. An Oberth."
Admiral: "Wait, an Oberth? Do we even use those things anymore?"
Commander: "Not only do we, but apparently they can kick Borg ass."

Admiral: "So how'd they do it? Some kind of weak spot? Super weapon? Logic-trickery?"
Commander: "collided with a Miranda, the resulting cascade of sucktitude imploded the entire Wolf 359 system."
Admiral: "I can't tell the press that! Make up some impressive sounding technobabble and alert the media."

Ooorr:

Commander: They beamed half the crew aboard, phasered Picard...Locutus...uh whoever in the back of the head, planted a couple of torpedo warheads on timers and beamed out.

It wouldn't be that far fetched, really. I mean, Mazer Rackham took out a Bugger's hive ship and he only commanded a small cruiser. :)

Actually, an Oberth would be the perfect testbed for experimental weapons, due to their low profile. No one ever expects the Oberth.

A tiny fleet of Oberth's-- supercharged and packing big heat and running civvi idents-- under the command of Section 31 or Starfleet version of Black-ops (not section 31). their mission: Kick ass, take names, and get their hands dirty so the likes of Picard and Janeway and spout about a how nice and peaceful the Federation is.

Starring President Palmer...I mean Dennis Haysbert.

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise....

An almost fanatical devotion to the fleet admiral, and nice red Starfleet uniforms....I'll come in again.
