Not news, really - we know Moffat has plans for season 10, and Musketeers was officially announced in February.
I'm not sure if there's any truth to this but I read somewhere that the show will continue until 2020.
Doctor Who is like the Robin Hood mythos now. If they ended it definitively tomorrow, another version with a fresh outlook would come along eventually, perhaps made by people who were ten years old in 2005. But I don't imagine that they'll end it in the next five years, unless some kind of collective insanity makes the BBC abandon the TV incarnation in favour of cinema.

Well, the Great British voting public did vote in a Conservative Government a few months ago and they seem hell bent on gutting the corporation for all it's worth.
And as the BBC's top selling programme worldwide whatever happens it's safe.
In fact, with a HBO-style BBC it could finally get a higher budget rather than being stuck with the standard BBC Drama budget that doesn't take into account FX costs etc.
I wish I had your opturmisum on such matters.
Every other commercial network in the world prioritises its most successful output. If the BBC had to survive without putting little old Grannies in prison for not paying their extortion money, I can't see why they wouldn't do the same.
That's the thing though, they don't want the Beeb to do that.

And yet they are going after other big draw programmes. I know what was said earlier today and how it was said. Given how much the BBC spends making and marketing Doctor Who, I doubt it is 100% safe. Now if World Wide is sold off and made commercial, they'll probably pick up the tab for it full time and not just the one off.
BBC First? As in first place for BBC shows?
The Beeb in any case would probably use Doctor Who as a reason to survive. Bearing in mind only a third of voters actually voted for the blue party they've already come under criticism for their plans to sell them off.
