Now, I Might Be Imagining Things (re: Trailer)

StarMan

Vice Admiral
Admiral
44-45 seconds into the trailer, just before Nimoy delivers the iconic phrase "Space, the final frontier", I *swear* they've inserted a young Shatner saying , simply, "space".

It's quiet and subtle, but it sounds like him to me.

Go check the trailer. Can you hear it?

Someone definitely says "space" just before Nimoy. Didn't occur to me before that it might be Shatner.

*Goes to watch the trailer again for the 50th gazillion time*

Nope, I don't hear it at all. Sounds like Nimoy to me all the way. Is this from the official site?

Some of you may need to listen closer. It's the countdown guy and what you hear is "Six" which follows "9,8,7" and is followed by "5,4,3...." before being overlapped by Nimoy. There is no "space."

you know I would, but it's really late at night I wouldn't want to wake up the trailer his parents might get mad, I'll check it out on the morrow

No, that's not "and others"! Someone clearly says "Nanclus". Go back and watch the teaser!

No!! You are completely wrong and so is anyone else who disagrees with me

A very good friend of mine is a shareholder at Paramount and has a rough cut of the entire film on his iPhone.

Shatner's wig definitely makes a cameo towards the end, having an historical inter racial love tryst with Uhuru's earpiece.

If there were any hidden messages in the trailer, I'd assume zealous Trekkies would have ferreted them out by now. Not that Shatner's hypothetical voice cameo would be a message, more like an homage, but I disgress...

:guffaw:Good times...

Nah, Starman's right - just after Armstrong's "leap for mankind" and before Nimoy's voice there's an echo of someone saying "Space" in the background. I noticed it the first time and every time I've seen the trailer, but never thought anything of it, vis-a-vis Shatner; I can't identify the voice as anyone in particular.

^^^
You're crazy... there's echo there but it flows right into Nimoy's voice ... 'space...'

I just watched it again, I gots the file in HD in my HD. ;p

I can't tell if this thread and the replies to it are serious or in jest. If the former, I weep for you all. :wtf:

Just listened to it with my noise-canceling headphones. The word is "six", not "space". Its just part of the countdown.

No, there is definately a "space" with an even quieter echo right before Nimoy. I can't peg it to a specific speaker, but I hear it too. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a homage to the original "Space, the final frontier..."

No.

And I know what I'm talking about. I get Entertainment Weekly so I know how the industry works. I also have a friend of a friend of an old college roommate of mine who was a 2nd AD on a pilot that was rejected by the CW network, so I KNOW all about the behind the scenes stuff!!

Well, I know how it should have been handled, so we should entirely disregard the ideas of the sad fops who put the teaser together, and we should certainly disregard the people who are "in the business".

Dude, I have an engineering degree and a liberal arts degree so you're not allowed to disagree with me. Evah.
