Something I happened upon today, shamelessly nicked off another forum (which was in itself shamelessly nicked off another forum)... how to pick your band name, first album name, and album cover:

1 - Go to Wikipedia and select a random page, or use this link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random

The title (ignoring any disambiguation suffixes) of the first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Get a random quotation from this page (NB it may produce pop-up ads)
    http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3

The last four words of the very last quotation of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on "explore the last seven days" as per below:
    http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/

The THIRD picture along, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

(At this point, going to a place like http://imageshack.us and linking the front page thumbnail works best. Alternatively, just paste the link to that page.)

Put it all together, that's your first album. :bolian:

    Some I came up with:

"A Contest of Principles" by Viktoria Postnikova
(who is actually a real musician, funnily enough - maybe she wants to do something avant garde? ;))

"Go There You Are" by TWINS (Knock Out) :guffaw:
(sounds like some form of dance or funk album )

"Preparation For Human Contacts" by Creator
(yup, definitely prog-rock and a hint of Finnish Gothic folk-metal there by the sound of things :klingon:)

This might not catch on. But who cares. Have a go yourselves. In fact, have a few goes. :bolian:

I wasn't around for much of last year, and I missed it first time around. Plus, thread necro policy is pretty stringent, so... let's do it again! :D

^^^ Yeah, that thread was a lot of fun, so we should definitely do it again.

Had another go and came up with:

"I Want To Be" - Michael Gudinski
(interestingly, if the album name rule is extended to the last 6 words, it becomes "How Rich I Want To Be" by Michael Gudinski. :guffaw:)

I think it's fun to see the combination of band, album and cover and to imagine what sort of music they'd be playing...

in your case, Shameless I can picture a Cure tribute band somehow. :D

For mine, I'd say that Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait has got a Val Doonican Chunky Jumper Rocking Chair By The Fire With Optional Pipe And Slippers easy-listening vibe going on. And he knows how to wear a nice pair of slacks.

This was my favorite. The title ties in with the image and the name in different ways.

Probably some kind of indie band.

Obviously a very conservative-leaning country band.

    Gothic rock.

This one was from the last thread like this. It just worked on so many levels:

    and now it's multiple Grammy-nominated alt-country album:

I think that album will end up depressing me. :p

    Alt-Country always depresses me. :p :p

This inspirational modern classical album, by Akiko Kobayashi, entitled "By Performing Brave Actions", however, is nothing short of invigorating:
