Not Released for cheap second run yet?

It appears that at least in some markets Trek has not yet been released for second run. Below is an image of 12 theater second run complex.

Bottom three have no picture.

It looks like Paramount is holding back T4 and Trek for now. When it gets released Trek should gain some theater count.

Anybody know when that will happen?

We have it at one of our second run theaters in the our area.

Still at the first run theater I work at though.

I suppose it kinda depends on where you live.

I'm also in Canada, and in my town, it's been at the local $3 second-run theatre for over a week. In fact, it arrived there before films like Wolverine (which opened in first-run before Trek) and Terminator Salvation, both of which started playing in this discount theatre on Friday.

I think there must be some sort of deal in place that says they can't show any films that are still playing in first-run cinemas; for example, Angels & Demons is still showing in one of the mainstream theatres nearby (for some reason), and this discount theatre I sometimes go to doesn't have it yet.

Maybe it's not Paramount then - maybe one of your local first-run cinemas is holding on to it for some reason.

(I have no idea how these things work, though - if that wasn't already obvious by my suggestion )

Is there a process for movies getting sent to second run theaters? Who makes the decisions? The theater chain? The studios?

It isn't in the cheap theaters in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area yet. It is still in first run, one screen, at a couple of the 20 screen theaters. I've been waiting impatiently for the cheaper theater as I'm ready to see it a final time.

You are correct, and I know why T4 isn't released yet, Warner brothers is packaging it with Harry Potter in double features to get it's numbers up.

Trek is in its 3rd week at the Warner Theater, the second run theater here in Morgantown, WV. Tickets are $4 for all shows.
