I can see why the general theme of the story appeals from a Hollywood perspective, a literal rags to riches story.

Reminds me of how the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man was similarly very loosely based on a book by the British writer Danny Wallace and also transplanted across the Atlantic

While I gathered at the time of his casting on Doctor Who that John Bishop was more well known on Britain than he was on this side of the pond, I did not think even in Britain he was famous enough that anyone, let alone a Hollywood A-Lister would be interested in making a movie about him.

Eh, whatever, might be worth a look when it's released.
