Non Trek: SS Nautilus

darkwing_duck1

Vice Admiral
A friend of mine got to talking about Steampunk the other day, and I got a flash of inspiration.

The result, my rendition of the SS Nautilus:

I like it overall... Except for maybe the 'sombrero' on top of the conning tower. (Had to say it, sorry!) :)

Cheers,

"BOO HISS! on the "sombrero"... :)

That's the dome covering the bridge. My Nemo is very much a "steampunk" scientist. He perfected a process for heat fusing carbon molecules under pressure. Harmonic waves regulated the formation of the crystal lattices making them 99% non-refractive to light.

In otherwords, he perfected a process of making synthetic transparent diamond.

Nice take on his ship. The only thing that's bugging me is the surface texture. From a Victorian/Steampunk perspective, it doesn't really make sense. I'd like to see panels of rivets.

Great looking shape overall though.

You wouldn't be able to see rivet lines on that ship at that distance. She's a big girl, over 500' long.
