Nolan's Batverse on hold

There were three years between the last two movies. If he does Batman after this next movie, that could be a 2011 release... or three years.

Of course, you could always do what the Hannibal Lecter and X-Men franchises did with parts three... Brett Ratner. :p

I think it's somewhat misleading to say that the Batverse is on hold. After making Batman Begins, Nolan went on to make The Prestige before he turned his attention to The Dark Knight. Indeed, IIRC, even after he was announced as having been signed to make the first of his Batman movies, he made Insomnia before turning his attention to the Batman relaunch. So this is simply him sticking to the (winning) formula of alternating Batman movies with non-Batman movies.

Yeah, Nolan isn't exactly Chris Tucker here.

You know what Tucker's follow-up movie to Rush Hour was? Rush Hour 2. And his followup to Rush Hour 2? Rush Hour 3!

This is really already being discussed in Jackson Archer's thread about Nolan's Inception. Anyway, as others have said, if Nolan makes Inception for a summer 2010 release he could then move onto the next Batman film for a summer 2011 release, which would be roughly the same timescale he followed in making The Prestige and The Dark Knight. In fact a summer 2010 release would give him a little more breathing room than he had after The Prestige, which was a fall release.

The title was "Nolan's Batverse on hold." I don't know why that's being argued, as it's a fact (assuming WB is still trying to get Nolan to direct).

No one's saying Nolan's Batverse is dead or not coming back - it's just being delayed while Nolan does "Inception." Just like "The Dark Knight" was delayed after "Batman Begins," for "The Prestige."

^^ The title suggests that the Bat universe has been put on hold for something.

It hasn't.

Like what happened between Begins and TDK, Nolan is doing another film before going back to the Bat.

The Bat universe was not "put on hold" after Begins. No one said such when he did "Prestige" - he was just doing another film.

But because of TDKs success, saying "Bat Universe ON HOLD!" like some old-timey paper boy on the corner reporting the head-line is a "story" because it makes people click and read. It's cable news sensationalism. Meaningless hype around a non-story designed solely to get people to think it's relevant.

The Bat verse is not on hold. It's right on god damn schedule. He did Bat, now he's doing another film, then he'll do Bat again. This happened last time. Making a big "on hold!" story up is just dishonest journalism and dishonest post titling.

It's drama queen territory, designed to make fan boys gasp and click the thread to report on... the exact same pattern of action and events as happened last time. Anyone with an iota of gray matter expected this pattern to occur, expected Nolan to do another film before a third Bat.

The other thread on this exact same topic, "Nolan to do Sci-Fi Film" or whatever, that's honest. That's legitimate. That's responsible. This thread's claim to fame, and what's annoying so many people, is that it's sensationalism and little else. Distorting things to make a good head-line.

If a news paper had reported "George W Bush leaves office in disgrace" on January 21st, it would have been "a fact" as in most of the worlds opinion, he's disgraced and left office - but not the truth of the story that he left when his term ended as is customary and normal and keeping with the law. It would have been faux sensationalism designed to cause a fuss and sell papers.

"On hold" means that he was planing to make a third film which has now been postponed. Despite all the silly rumours that may have cropped up on line, there's no definite proof that he will ever make another Batman film.

And there's no definite proof he won't NOT make one, either.

True, we don't know for sure that there will be a 3rd Nolan Batman film. However, I can tell you that the studio will give him any amount he wants to do it at this point. They made a fortune off the last one, and may have some awards to go with the mountain of cash as well in a couple of weeks.

Oh no, it's on hold!!

To continue in English, press one now.
If you know your parties extension, enter it now.
All other inquiries please continue to hold.

This may take a while. :(
