Well i got to try one the other day and i have to say i was impressed with the 3D, that 3D face game were you shoot at your own animated face was a lot of fun, and disturbing at the same time. LOL
Starfox 3D multiplyer mode will use the inward facing camera for each player, so that a small icon hovers over your opponent with a live video window showing them, so you get to see the look on their face as you shoot them down
I think making 3D the main selling point of it was a mistake, in any case. It is a more powerful and versatile system than the various DS units were, and they should've played that up and made the 3D more of an optional feature rather than a reason to buy the system. I'll buy one eventually but it sure as hell won't be for the 3D. That is just not enough to sell me a handheld.
Doesn't making 3DS $170 make the DS XL look pointless now? Who in the hell would pay that much for an XL when they can get a 3DS for the same price? Are they going to price drop the XL any time soon?
I picked up my blue back up DS LITE for $100, it'll be my replacement for when my current DS LITE craps out. I know it'll be impossible to find new in a few months.
Well funny enough in the local supermarket they have the 3DS sitting next to the DSXL with two big price tag underneath each.....3DS(£120)- XL(£145)....so yeah i wonder why Nintendo have not dropped the price of the XL seeing as its now more expensive than the 3DS.
I prefer the bigger screens on my Japanese DSi LL. My daughter uses it and I'd get her a DSi, but I think she's used to the larger screen size, but I'm not paying £150 for one. I was hoping the 3DS would cause both DSi units to drop in price, but that's not the case.
I have no plans to upgrade; none of the software I've seen interests me and I play games on my iPhone more.
I suspect they haven't dropped the price of the DS XL in order to push more units of the 3DS. Since the 3DS can play DS games, why not just buy it and keep buying DS games for it? Eventually there will be good 3DS-exclusive titles, and you'll already have one.
I'm not going to smaller screen; besides I have a raft of downloads from the Japanese shop I cannot transfer. If there was a 3DS XL I'd do so when the machine dies, but I have no reason to buy the current one. I'd rather put the money towards an iPad.
