Is Kesler really captain material? I don't think you can name anyone at that team that you could readily identify as well known Captain material.

Kesler? Definitely not. He can be a bit of a whiner, and I have a feeling the refs aren't too fond of him. I think Hank could be a good captain though.

I think there's a certain bit of insanity required if you're going to get hard rubber pucks flung at you at 90 mph on a regular basis.

Well, I wanted to include that "most" in my previous post just in case one them wasn't actually a bit nuts.

So the NHL fined the Devils 3 million for the whole Kovalchuk situation. The Devils will also lose a first round pick in one of next four drafts (the Devils pick which year) and a third round pick in 2011. The 3 million will not count towards the cap.

Ever read Dave Bidini's book The Best Game You Can Name? There's a great passage in there about the particular mentality required to be a goalie... I can try to dig it up when I get home.
