NFL Schedule's Announced!

Wow the Patriots have a easy schedule. I really hope they don't have the near undefeated year again but looking at that, they might.

As for the Niners schedule, not too bad. There are some difficult games like New England at home and Dallas in Dallas which is going to be killer. But there are some winable games there which is nice.

^ As soon as I saw the schedules were out I checked the Pats out. They have 3 tough road games: at Indy, Seattle, and San Diego. As for the home schedule the Steelers are the only top notch team out there.

Their division is awful. If Buffalo continues to improve they could be pesky but the Pats should easily win the division.

I don't think 14-2 is unreasonable.

I am looking forward to seeing them totally destroy some teams like they did early last year before everyone geared up to take their shot at them when they were going for undefeated. I'd love to see them drop 60 on the Jets.

New England and San Diego have the two easiest schedules in the league this year. :wtf:

Great, we have no players on offense and we're opening up against Indy. Oh well, at least the Packers are going to suck too.

Not liking that my Packers start off with a Monday night game against the Vikings, but I love that they have a Monday night game at New Orleans. I've been waiting for years for them to play down there. We usually try to go to one Packers game each year; going down to New Orleans to see them would be great.

So the Bills' 'home' game in Toronto is on the 7th of December - against the Dolphins, and well after the Grey Cup is played this year.

I wonder if the plan is to try and avoid a direct clash with a CFL event for that game in T.O. - though I have to say that I have my doubts about the idea overall.

(I'm not a massive fan of either the CFL or NFL, but if Toronto ever gets an NFL franchise, I hope that it doesn't spell the end of the Argonauts, or of CFL's presence in the city - the Argos date back to 1873, and the Canadian league wouldn't be the same without them. Not that I wouldn't want to see the Alouettes stuff them while they are still around, mind you!)

The schedule release is a big "meh" from me. We pretty much know who they're playing well before this release - it's just the dates that really show up. You already know that the AFC North will face the NFC East, plus their own division 2x, etc.

With the way the teams change from year to year, who knows what will be a tough or easy schedule? People thought the Bengals and Ravens would be at least decent and both weren't that great. Some thought the Dolphins would be improved and they tanked. The Rams? They were supposed to be pretty decent and they sucked. So who knows? Your easy schedule might not be that easy as it turns out.

Anybody want to talk about 2009's schedule? We can pretty much figure out 80% of it right now (minus the dates).

When you live hundreds of miles away from your team, the schedule release is a big deal. I knew several weeks ago that the Packers and Vikings would open on Monday night, but I was still too late to get a hotel room in Green Bay for that date. Almost every hotel near Lambeau Field sold out for home games as soon as the schedule was released. It's one of the main reason why we go to other cities to see the Packers: The tickets are fairly easy to get, but finding a room down there is next to impossible.

Thats exactly what they're doing. I believe Toronto had a say in when the game was played, just to avoid conflicts.

They're playing a preseason game there as well.:techman:

Why does Miami get all the international games? The NFL isn't exactly showing off their best product there.

Unless they want the Bills to get an easy win so the Toronto folks see how cool they are.

I live a thousand miles or so from my teams, so I have plenty of experience on that front. I see the Red Sox on the road all the time because it's easier to see them there than at Fenway (cheaper, too).

Still, aside from learning the dates, the whole schedule excitement is much ado over little we didn't already know.

Oh, hooray!

I wonder if Bills fans wouldn't be bothered about the idea of seeing a drawn-out effort to prise their team from them - although after seeing the likes of the Nordiques, Expos and Grizzlies get taken south, it would be something to see a Canadian city steal a major league franchise from a US city for a change...

...unless you count the move that the Baltimore Stallions made when becoming the modern-day version of the Montréal Alouettes, that is.

Meh - Torontonians turn out in droves to see a hockey team that hasn't won the Stanley Cup in over 40 years, give a basketball team with one title of note (and not even a conference title, either) one of the largest home crowds in the NBA (and led the league in attendances for three years in a row at one stage) and sell out games for an MLS side which, to put it mildly, still has some way to go in terms of league success.

Though at least the Jays have two World Series titles to their name.

In fact, the one club from Toronto which has been reasonably successful since those Blue Jays World Series titles happens to be...

...the one who have the most to lose if the NFL place a franchise in T.O.

Funny, that.

I don't think it'll happen. Ralph Wilson won't do it, and when he dies there's a guy in Rochester thats ready to take over (wish I remembered his name). I believe he has ties to Jim Kelly and Jim has said the Bills will never leave Buffalo.

So.....take that for what you will. I'm sure Baltimore fans thought the same thing.;)

Perhaps.

Oh, would it be feasible for other NFL teams to try the same trick as the Bills are, with the whole play-a-home-game-in-Canada thing - even if they didn't want to actually move the team?

For example, what if the Seahawks played a game in BC Place Stadium, or a team went to the Big O in Montréal for a match - or even to Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium?

Not that I'm pushing for any of that to happen, mnd you - I was just wondering if it would even work at all, or if T.O. is the only place where it would be viable.

Sure, it would work. It's already been done to an extent with the Packers playing a home game or two in Milwaukee for quite a few years. A little different in regards to Canada, but not impossible.
