Will Paramount mix the next Star Trek feature film in Dolby Surround 7.1 ?
Considering Star Trek was nominated for it's sound work in 2009...

The past 15 years have been Dolby Digital or DTS with 5.1 surround sound at the cinema.
Only the Sony SDDS format used 8 channels of audio at the cinema and it was 5 speakers across the front of the screen with 2 rear channels and a sub-bass channel.

This Dolby Surround 7.1 is really different. Hopefully we'll get the next Trek in state-of-the-art cinema sound.

That would be nice. I think trek should try to stay on the cutting edge. Even though I know it won't happen, I hope that it won't be in JJ land though.
