News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Well, Yellowstone itself ended after five seasons, and none of its spin-offs have lasted as long. I guess by the logic of this thread, that franchise is an indisputable failure?

For that matter, the only one of Taylor Sheridan's other shows to get five seasons is Mayor of Kingstown. And that too is ending with the fifth season. Good god, Taylor Sheridan only produces failures! No wonder Paramount fired him forcing him to run with his tail tucked between his legs to Peacock.

Wow, you and I have a far different opinion of this place. Frankly, there are people here who dislike a lot of the Kurtzman era. Most actually have fair points and decent discussions about it. Many also try to look at it objectively, not just shit on it. There are a lot of other places on the web that you can do that if you don’t appreciate the level of nuance here.

Testify!

In all honesty, Prodigy was fantastic. It failed because fandom thought an animated show about teenagers was beneath them.
I tried it. It was an unremarkable kid's show, heavy on callbacks.

"Let's recreate a bunch of oldTrek characters on the holodeck!"

funnily enough, the season episode charts on Memory-Alpha you can sort by Stardate, though it places any episode with an unknown date to the bottom of the list.

I did a spreadsheet version for the hell of it where I either used alternate sources or did some estimation to plug the unknowns into a sensible order.

No, that's r/star_trek

/r/startrek is the nicer one.

Going back a couple of days...

And that's not even considering the "not real Trek " accusations hurled at ENTERPRISE.

To be fair, it wasn't the mean fans who decided the show shouldn't even be called Star Trek until its third season.

(For the benefit of younger fans out there, TPTB decided that Enterprise should not have Star Trek in its title for its first two seasons.)

That's odd. I would think that almost any episode can be dated at least between two other 'stardated' episodes based on character development and continuity. I guess it would take some dedication to watch and assess, but famdon is not short on dedication. ;)

I'll never get over one fan declaring that NX stood for Never eXisting:lol:

Better than we know some of the characters from the Roddenberry and Berman Eras and less than others. Them showing up in every episode doesn't equal "development." Many so called main characters were shut out of ant significant development. They'd get tossed a bone or two every season at best. So I can't hold up Old Trek at the "Golden Age" of character depth.

Ortegas is pretty well developed for a character who has has one focus episode. A very distinct personality. We've met her brother. We know she was a pilot in the war. Seems to suffer from PTSD. And of course, she flies the ship.

Chapel has been at the forefront of several SNW episodes. She's pretty much the female lead at this point. Had a whole backstory episode that she shared with M'Benga, fleshing out their relationship. So I don't know why she made your list.

We got a fair amount of backstory on Tilly and Raffi too, IIRC.
Ortegas, Chapel, La'An, Uhura - we know most of the SNW characters far better than we knew Crusher, LaForge, et al.

Aside from the Triumvirate, the TOS characters were accents and tics-of-the-week. They're popular as comfort - we've seen them a lot and recognize them.
