New Zealand through the eyes (and camera lens) of Americans

If you stuck a gun to my head, handed me two free plane tickets, and told me I could go anywhere I want, I'd probably go there.

^^^I've been to Dunedin! Spent a night there right down on the Octagon. Adore the railway station! Here's a pic of me there in 2002.

I've visited New Zealand twice, back during the time when my parents lived out there. Both times were spent on North Island. On the first visit we stayed mostly in Auckland and also spent time up in the Bay of Islands, Rotorua and Lake Taupo. On the second visit I stayed in Whakatane, in the Bay of Plenty, and visited both Whakaari (White Island) and Moutohora (Whale) Island, while also popping into Auckland on occasion (mostly to watch Team New Zealand lose the America's Cup to Alinghi).

I think that will be our next big vacation in a year or two. There's a good shot we'll be living on the west coast by then, making the travel time a little less onerous.

NZ is somewhere I'd love to visit. The scenery looks awesome, and the cities all seem interesting.
