New Zealand just had a big cyber (denial of service) attack

I can't post a link because the major ISP targetted - TelstraClear - won't admit they got hit cos 12 months ago they put in a system in place to avoid such attacks!

It took out our blackberry system at work, net speed slowed down considerably and many nz-based sites didn't work.

We've had a few in Australia. My old employer was attacked on a regular basis, and a few years ago an online betting agency was taken down.

Both attacks,as far as anyone can tell, originated from China or Russia.

There may be a Four Corners documentary about the betting agency story still online somewhere.
