New uniforms in Season 2 Trailer

CBS have posted a little video on their Instagram feed, showing red and yellow tunic tops with sleeve stripes.

Really like the badges. I see they've kept the weird 1950s shoulder detailing for the Enterprise uniforms. Not a big fan of that, though at least the trim looks to be the same color as the tunic.

Kinda looks like they're keeping the asymmetrical collar for the Enterprise uniforms. Not a big fan of that, but I'm digging the rest of the styling.

Also noticed in the video: "Int. Section 31 - Bridge/Lab" on those blueprints.

Nope - the ST:B uniforms didn't have the circular 'gold' shoulder braiding. It's a new uniform design for ST: D (which is nice.)

Plus the black collar looks more prominent here than in Beyond. They're certainly closest to that design though of all the predecessors.

We also got a glimpse of the science uniform. I won't lie, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't update the Cage uniforms as opposed to the main series uniforms, but I can understand why they did it. To be honest, they seem to take cues from the Star Trek Beyond uniforms which is fine by me since I liked that take on them sans the collars which are fixed here.

They've definitely added Beyond-style shoulder pads, which I don't get. Why would we start wearing shoulder pads in what is basically a long-sleeve T?

Maybe the '80s make a comeback?

The new uniform is pretty much the same design from Season 1, just with TOS colors, and a few other minor changes. Still has those stupid collars.

In fact, this uniform was a concept from before Season 1 that they decided not to go with that I saw over a year ago. Guess the powers that be decided to move more toward TOS now.

Why do we wear any kind of style, really? Not a lot is actually functionally designed throughout.
