New Trek that 'leaps' around?

How about a trek that can be in 'any' time or includes 'any' previous trek charactors or new actors?
Think about it.
Qwark on vacation-
Picard visiting Ryker and Troi-
Kirk gets into trouble in school-(when he is 10 years old!)
7 of 9 on earth-
Jake Sisko falls in love-
Scotty fix's his 1st machine as a kid-

Maybie this idea's a lil crazy? Thoughts?

I doubt it would ever happen as a show because-
a) There'd be no regular cast, apparently.
b) It would be prohibitively expensive in terms of having to make new sets for pretty much every episode.

While it is true it would be more expensive to build many different sets, they'd also save a great deal on not having a regular cast whose salaries balloon year after year. With clever planning in terms of set construction, it would be doable. However, whether it would be succesful is a different story. Anthology series are notorious for not grabbing hold of modern audiences, which is a shame.

That doesn't tend to happen until a show has been on the air for 4 or 5 years.

I've often had this idea as well. If sets were too expensive, perhaps there could be arcs. Maybe five episode arcs, and then once that was over, do another one. However, that starts to sound more like a miniseries.

I don't think not having a main cast would be a problem. The show would essentially have the format of Twilight Zone, but in the Trek universe. I'd definitely watch it.

Spell better please.

I don't think it would work, we already have the characters engraved in our minds as far as personalities and looks, and most of them are not getting any younger. I just don't think casting would work out.

so... would the emh be named al?

or would the doctor simply be called 'the doctor' and have a blue box for an office?

>_<

Jack: I beg to differ. Its just the lack of encouraged newbie writers , (compounded by fan productions drawing away canon's once-massive audience, intellectual property arguments, et al.) that seems to make an online or print anthology an unlikely source of revenue or career-launching fame.
