It looks like we are going to get an avengers style star trek after all.... in comic form?! https://m.ign.com/articles/2018/10/...-from-4-shows?abthid=5bb7b10a9a05a9517d0002d3 Oddly enough I notice the Nx01 crew is absent..... I'm still going to pick this up though.
Maybe Trelane will appear. Considering that Roddenberry based the Q off of Trelane, maybe those will be another “Q-Squared”.
Please, no. People keep forgetting that Trelane didn't have godlike power; his machines had the power, and aside from moving Gothos (which could've been an illusion), they didn't do a single thing you couldn't achieve with a transporter and a holodeck. He was nothing like the Q except in personality.
Several people have compared this to Marvel's Secret Wars crossover from 1984. It also reminds me of Star Trek Unlimited #7 which featured Q and Trelane making Kirk and Picard switch places as part of some kind of contest. The story culminated with the TOS and TNG characters confronting Q and Trelane in a scene that looks a lot like the Q Conflict cover. And then there's the video game Star Trek Timelines, where a temporal anomaly causes a massive crossover between TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT and even Discovery. Q was involved with that one too.
This. I had the same exact thought over the weekend. However, I also thought about Q's absense in TOS. Aside from the Spock vs Q audiobooks, has Q ever encountered the TOS crew?
There was the Marvel comic where Q and Trelane swapped Kirk and Picard into each other's lives. But "Encounter at Farpoint" made it clear that Q was intervening in human affairs for the first time. The intention then was that Starfleet was intruding into the Q's space, although the Q were later inflated into all-powerful, all-pervasive godlike beings. But presumably they took no active interest in humanity until a certain line was crossed. (I tried to retcon a reason for that sudden interest in The Buried Age.)
To be comprehensive, the 1701 crew encountered a possible Q, Zoe Querez / Qat Zaldana, in 2270 in @Greg Cox's The Rings of Time.
I'm really looking forward to this, I'm a big Q fan, and I'm always up for a good crossover. The Tipton's writing is pretty good, so I'm confident they'll be able to pull this off. They've had a pretty good handle on TOS, TNG, and DS9, hopefully their VOY will be good too.
It could have just been something to amplify his powers. His parents were non-corporeal. The machine could've been something to simply help him play on the planet.
Amongst those what-could-have-been rumours for Season 5 of ENT, wasn't there to be an episode with Guinan and maybe Q? Where we'd see where their animosity stemmed from. I vaguely recall anyway.
