No they're not confused, we're just not privy to it. They have a Tarantino script which is written by an Oscar winner, and it may or may not be made but it's a long-range project. They also continue to tout the Noah Hawley project in press releases as well as their margin call.

I miss the movie novelizations. I still have them all in hardcover or rebound as board books.

If I am grateful for anthing in this its the cancellation of the Tarantino script. I really dont like his style which seems diametrically opposed to the star trek ethos, unless it was a story about star trek assassins and hit men. I can only tolerate one of his movies....the last one as a retcon of actual history.

Something that if any other director did it (increased swearing, violence, and other Tarantino staples) they would be accused of violating Star Trek's vision and all it stands for. But, Tarantino is awesome so don't question it.

Tarantino is overrated and wont stand th test of time. His story pacing is either extremely boring or romanticizing gore and violence for no reason other than to titillate. Most of his movies are just lame and/or redressing of past movies sent in a new twist setting. I have kind of not hated some of his movies....but his style is just anti-trek which is not gore fests he has devolved into from some early slight promise of doing something different. His trek would be the absolute zero death forever of trek, because he only has one style of storytelling, pacing and editing.​

Considering he's still a major and well-known director after nearly 30 years in the business, I find your argument unconvincing.

Well, he's alive and producing more stuff. Whether anybody will be interested in any of his stuff after he stops doing it is the only relevant meter here.

I seriously wonder whether, after the generation that actually listened to him when he was creating passes, anybody will remember, say, Michael Jackson for anything but the pedophilia accusations - and even then only presuming that pedophilia accusations continue to be a hot topic as a thing... It's not really a factor of the quality of the art, either: we probably wouldn't give two shits about Mozart's Requiem were it not Mozart's Requiem, that is, had the composer not died doing it, thereby making himself memorable and distinguishable from the other prodigiously producing popular composers of his time. But Tarantino's art being so thoroughly derivative does bode ill for its memorability factor.

And he says he is going to retire after one more movie...period. Whatever.

Great directors like ford and hitchcock are even fading in pop culture because they are hard to cut up ans shorten into new versions and shorter attention spans and merch selling goals that modern films have to consider. In publishing now it how many preorders you have, not how many books you sell that determines if you are successful. With music its mostly sold by the song, so where will the great albums with coherent narratives be.....they won't.
