New Species Revamps on DSC?

A la Linus the Saurian, what species would you like to see done on DSC? How would you update them?

I think this is a great opportunity to play with the background aliens from TMP and TVH especially. The Aaamazzarites I think would be cool to see redone. They produce biomatter from their mouths that they make into tools or shelter or whatnot, like insects. Reminds me of Alien a little.

I dunno, the Romulans kinda have to look the same way as the Vulcans, so they can't really change much.

But that's the interesting part. They should look like Vulcans, perhaps slightly different small details. But, in the 24th century, they all looked the same. Same haircut, same style of clothing. Nothing actually alien. I'd love to see something more different.

Well they gave them a head ridge :rommie:

Well, that's going to be left to the Picard series, I suspect...

There is no Picard series. Fans invented that, after Stewart made some comment about might having a need to watch Discovery. He's also a producer, and has directed once or twice. For all we know that's it.

Oh dear, are you in denial or not in the know?

I wasn't in the know!! I just read!! :D :D :D
Please oh please let the new Picard series be the sitcom with Worf I’ve been dreaming of all these years.

Well, I'll get much hate for this, but I'd love to see them tackle the Romulans actually.

Yes. From ME. You are hereby banished BANISHED from replying to this thread. For the next 30 seconds.

Go sit under a tree and think about what you've done.

That haircut thing was just plain stupid. Sure, I can actually see most Vulcans adopting the hairstyle universally recognised as most logical, but that Romulans, after cultural divergence of two millennia would have it too is crazy.

When all the women began sporting it I had to go :vulcan:. Makes me wonder if it's cheaper to wig an actor rather than dress their hair.

Romulans "redesign" for TNG was era was always crap, and the entire species became redundant with the Cardassians stealing their spotlight.
The Romulan's in TOS, cool, especially as we see of the female Romulan commander, seductive, manipulative, cunning. This should be what Romulans are like, since as we know about Vulcans before Surak, Vulcans were even more emotional and driven by passion and desire than humans.
So why are they just all wearing grey, have the same "Vulcan logical" haircut etc?
As I've said here before, if I was to get my hands on the Romulans, I would probably remodel them aesthetically to be more "Imperial Chinese" leaning in with the raptor, and take their characterisation from the Rihannsu (which also seemingly took on a more Asian "aesthetic" for the race)

Considering the Romulans were a stand-in for the North Koreans/Chinese (Enterprise Incident is for example, based on the USS Pueblo incident), this also basically fits the race. Also fits that Vulcans have a more Zen Japanese aesthetic as well.

I think it was supposed to imply they were a totalitarian culture where little in the way of personal expression was allowed. There's analogues in our history, from Mao suits to North Korea only having 15 legally allowable haircuts.
