New Space Quest games

For Space Quest fans, there have been some new fan-made Space Quest games that have come out recently, in particular a Space Quest 2 VGA remake by Infamous Adventures:

Sounds interesting. I've always wanted to play Space Quest, but one issue prevented me and hopefully that's been fixed for the remakes.

Do these fan-games still have unwinnable situations?

Well, sort of. The Space Quest 2 remake is a 1:1 remake, which means they've recreated it exactly as it originally was. There's one part where you're supposed to get a light crystal, for example, but it's easy to miss and required to proceed, and so if you don't get it, you're screwed.

The other fangames seem to be more forgiving though as they don't let you proceed unless you don't have what you need, and if you do die, you can just retry from where you left off, whereas with remakes like the SQ2 remake, they only let you restore to a save.

Space Quest Incinerations is really well animated. I was quite impressed by it. It has a good cinematic feel to it.

My favorite fan game was Space Quest Chapter 0: Replicated.

It was pretty short and not as funny as the real games, but it was a pretty decent adventure game from the old style.
