New Simpsons tonight

Once again I found this new episode to be a lot better than the norm and very funny. Maybe I'm still just grooving on the new opening and extended couch gag :p

Looks like the simpsons are trying to immitate family guy now GRRRRRRRRRRRR

What do you mean? I thought this was actually a pretty good episode, which means it can't be remotely like Family Guy. I liked the jabs at standardized testing, and I liked seeing Skinner learn about how to impart a real education. The angular-momentum thing was brilliant. It's a shame he'll inevitably revert to normal next time we see him.

What bugged me about the Homer insurance thing, though, was that it looked like the envelope was the one they sent to him, not the SASE he'd send the check back in. So maybe he's still not insured.

I see they're sticking with the HD titles. Unfortunately, FOX isn't airing any of its shows in letterbox anymore, apparently.

I laughed several times... it was a very good episode. But I'm not part of the gibbering horde that insists the show isn't funny any more, in the first place.

I didn't notice much in the way of Family Guy ripoffs. A few examples?

There was an ep of Family GUy where they were discusing No Child LEft behind, and the kicked the dumbest boy (Chris) out of school to keep their funding.

Ah, I see. I guess the reason I didn't notice is that Family Guy really isn't about its plots 90% of the time. That was part of the "plot" of that episode, but not the substantive content of the Family Guy. But yeah, you're right, plotwise there is sime similarity.

^Well, the idea of Springfield Elementary hiding its poor students away to look better has been done more than once over the years. Wasn't there one where Skinner promised Bart and the bullies racing bikes in order to lure them down to the boiler room and lock them in there prior to an inspection? So it's far more likely that Family Guy was copying The Simpsons. In fact, as I understand it, it's pretty much a safe bet that anything in Family Guy was copied from some other source.

Nascar was on, DVR didn't record a second of the Simpsons. Also missed the second half of American Dad.

I think they sent up a bunch of "Classic TV intro's"
or did I miss something here , was half a sleep from not feeling well yesterday.

^ That was the couch gag, the storyline involved standardized testing and the school sending the lowest achievers away. Family Guy did a similar episode where to save the schools funding Chris Griffin was expelled and Lois' father was used to get him into his alma mater: Morningwood Academy (where Chris joined the Skull & Bones Society).
