new sf/f series news: Warehouse 13 and Boldly Going Nowhere

Sci Fi greenlights Warehouse 13 for more episodes.

Here's hoping Revolution and Caprica aren't far behind.
Series stars Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly as Secret Service agents charged with procuring a huge, top-secret South Dakota storage facility full of supernatural artifacts and relics.
Sounds like it could be lightweight fun, even if the lead actress looks like a perturbed tweety bird in that photo. :rommie: They didn't mention it, but CCH Pounder is in the cast.

Boldly Going Nowhere is still going somewhere.

It's significant that it hasn't been dropped. Lots of shows get talked about and then you never hear from them again. As a new It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fan, I would love to see this see the light of day. I'd also like to see some of that cast on this show. I could see Kaitlin Olson as a skankier Gwen DeMarco and Charlie Day as a smartass tech guy and/or evil alien overlord.

The single-camera half-hour is a high-concept comedy set in the future and focused on the mundane world of a spaceship captain when he's not on a mission.
Ben Browder for the lead! Dammit, he's perfect!

Warehouse 13 sounds like intentional camp, but I think Boldly Going Nowhere has the potential to be very funny, and I like the title they chose.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia gets its humor from modern life, but to use this style in sci fi means developing a whole new society in space to get humor from. Sure, it all essentially derives from human nature, but to make Boldly Going Nowhere really work as a comedy in its own right, they'll have to do a lot of universe-building on the fly. I'm really curious about that one - the Philadelphia writers are very imaginative, and I think they could be great at sci fi.

None of the cast from It's Always Sunny will actually be on the new show as regulars. They will merely serve as producers and writers.
