New KICK-ASS Redband trailer

I think it was Matthew Vaughn that pretty much described Kick-Ass as "the R-rated version of Spider-Man". Well, judging by this outrageously Redband trailer, he might be onto something there.

I can't wait for this film. It far surpasses Iron Man 2 as my most anticipated comic-book movie of the year. From all indications IM2 just looks like more of the first film, and the trailer did not impress me. However, Kick-Ass looks like it might bring some fresh air to the comic-book genre (is it to safe to call the comic-book adaptation a genre?) and the trailers thus far released have been extremely vibrant and energetic.

Am not normally one to be so full of hyperbole but shit....that trailer gave me a fucking semi.

Cant wait to see this.

This movie will raise the bar, I think. Taking a lot of tropes and cliches and turning them on their heads...

IM2 might just look childish next to it.

I'm interested in the characters of KickAss and... RedMist, is it? But the girl does nothing for me and I find her distracting because she's doing things I just don't buy a kid her size/age doing.

I was way more up for this when I thought it would only be about a very normal dude trying his best to play superhero without pulling off anything crazy.

I'll still probably watch just to see his story, but I'm... I don't want to say disappointed, but frustrated that they've got HitGirl in there.

Pfft. Hit Girl rocks, so does Big Daddy and pretty much everyone else in the lead. Can't wait for it, though I wish they'd stop making trailers. I can pretty much create the entire story on my own right now.

My first impression is it's just Leon the Professional with superheroes (or maybe I should say supervillains - the killer kid doesn't really have that Superman vibe going).

I've been waiting for this since I was sent the script last summer and it has superseded "Iron Man 2" as my most anticipated movie of the year. I just bought the hardcover for book one and my god is this violent! I was blown away by the script alone but if they featured all of the violence that is in the actual comic this film would be rated NC-17 easily. Hit Girl is my favorite character followed by Kick-Ass himself. Now that I've read the comic book I don't see Nic Cage as Big Daddy but the trailers have all convinced me that he'll do a great job. There are scenes in the comic that I'm looking forward to seeing in the film. I hope it does well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel so they can adapt "Kick Ass Book Two: Balls Out" which is coming out later this year.

That was quite possibly the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. "Oh look, we can swear!"

If they stick to the comics, there's a lot left out of the trailers. :shifty:

I've only just read the first series today and wonder how the film will turn out and what all will be changed even to make an R rating. An unrated version would be like so-called "torture porn" films.

^ That's not the point...but whatever.

So far as I can see the only thing distinguishing it from children's fare like Spy Kids is its love for the naughty word. I'm not sure that banking on the 11-13yr olds who giggle each time they encounter the number '69' for a film's success is a good idea, but we'll see.

So far as I can see the only thing distinguishing it from children's fare like Spy Kids is its love for the naughty word. Personally I'm not sure that banking on the 11-13yr olds who giggle each time they encounter the number '69' for a film's success is a good idea, but we'll see.

Kick-Ass is far above Spy Kids material. I predict it's going to be the Inglourious Basterds of superhero movies. There's a lot more subtext there than you see on the surface. It's a sort of satire on the superhero story.

Since the movie will probably be rated R in the US, 11-13 year olds won't be permitted into the movie without an adult.

It is NOT the audience they are banking on.

Which is a good thing. I'm tired of movies beign dumbed down and lightened to get a PG-13 rating. Kick-Ass looks like it's balls are fully dropped and ready to go to town on us with awesome.

It seems like a fairly fun movie. But the whole 'little girl calling people cocks and cunts while going on brutal killing spree' is a little stupid, and vaguely disconcerting. Feels like your typical Mark Millar junk "oohh its so shocking and violently irreverent" schlock (i've read much of his other comic work, but not Kick-Ass).

I'm a fan of Matthew Vaughan though, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he offers up.
