Spin-off will get made if Wolverine does well, says character creator.
by Orlando Parfitt, IGN UK

UK, April 16, 2009 - The co-creator of Deadpool says there are definite plans for a spin-off movie, if enough fans show up at theatres to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Artist Robert Liefeld (who along with writer Fabian Nicienza developed the character) said via Twitter last week that the producers of Wolverine told him there were "definite plans to spin off Deadpool if the box office works."

He went on to say that Wolverine's much-discussed reshoots were planned to give more screen time to Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, and that the actor was "chosen specifically with the idea that he would carry [a possible] solo film."

We'll have to wait two weeks, when Wolvie hits screens worldwide, to see if the film makes enough cash to give the wise-cracking mercenary his own film.

God I hope that they salvage the character enough from the leaked version so that they can make a true spinoff. Now THAT I will watch.

Hm. If true, the re-shoots weren't for improving quality but for getting more bang for their potential new franchise buck?

That sucks. Fuck you, Fox. Fuck...you. I'd like to put a sausage down Tom Rothman's throat and let a real fox burrow it's way to it through his ass. Fucking douche bag.

How the Hell can they make a spinoff when

he got his fucking head cut off?

It's just a reshoot. It's too late for them to refilm the entire movie so fans shouldn't expect the movie to suddenly jump from C to A+ in quality. :)

We asked artist Robert Liefeld what he'd like to see in a Deadpool movie. "Pouches", he said thoughtfully, "lots of pouches. And I'm working with a Hollywood FX house on developing a new realtime cross-hatching filter."

Maybe that's one of the scenes they reshot.

Um...because

Deadpool has a healing factor like Wolverine. Place his head back on his body and he's good to go.

And Deadpool is one of my absolute favorite comic characters. I hope to god that there's a spinoff. Especially becuase Ryan Reynolds is such awesome casting. Thankfully, Wolverine should have no trouble at all doing well at the box office.

maaaaaaybe optic-blast shooting, head-losing 'deadpool' is a clone of Deadpool. hence the 'Weapon XI' designation. therefore, Deadpool can appear in his own movie.

I wonder if Deadpool's feet will disappear at random times during the movie.

"And the women will have four inch waists and stand on the tips of two fleshy appendages barely resembling feet. In fact, real feet will be CGIed out throughout the movie."

Last image I aw of Deadpool in this movie, he looked nothing like the comic book.
I dont know much about Deadpool. I do know that he's a wise-cracking mercenary type with scars who covers himself with a distinct red & black mask. The other day I was at Target & passed by the Wolverine figures at the toy aisles. I looked at the Deadpool figure & thought, wow if I was a Deadpol fan I would be sooo ticked off! What the hell did they do to the guy!? :wtf:

Actually I thought some of the stuff in the Origins movie would work as a explanation on how Deadpool acts in the comics. Think about it, what more would cause a character to talk non-stop and not realize he's saying things out loud and not just thinking them when in the movie

He's had his mouth sewn up shut and is being controlled/brainwashed. If they then later have him break out of the Weapon X program's control after slowly overcoming the brainwashing... Well a period of going through having your mouth closed up could make ya pretty damn talkative and combined with swiss-cheesing his brain would account for the speaking his inner monologue.

Well, at the very least this movie also got us an excellent comic version figure made. I picked him up the other day and I love him. He's currently riding on top of my titanium Galactica, becuase Deadpool totally would.

Win of the day.

Well...
If the Unstoppable Wolverine is really the model for the healing factor, the head could probably just grow a new body. Depending how invasive and persistent the healing factor is, it might even take care of the optic blasts/extendible katana blades/myriad power fuckups that have been grafted onto his DNA, and the sewn-up mouth.

And Deadpool is one of my absolute favorite comic characters. I hope to god that there's a spinoff. Especially becuase Ryan Reynolds is such awesome casting. Thankfully, Wolverine should have no trouble at all doing well at the box office.

Ditto. So long as they unrape him. :)

That would be a happy little retcon. :)

Agreed.

It's hilarious how much Deadpool is a ripoff of Baraka from Mortal Kombat. It's like FOX went the extra mile to piss off Deadpool fans. Fatality!
