New Frontier - Characters don't look like described in the books

I think Peter David may have had Mel Gibson in mind when he created the character as McKenzie's story reminds me of Braveheart and even the character that McKenzie is patterned after , Quintin Stone from PAD's earlier Rock and a Hard Place seemed like Riggs from Lethal Weapon in many ways.
Though you may also not feel comfortable with Mel's face for Calhoun's.

Actually, that's exactly right, right down to which movies inspired which characters. PAD said it on his blog and in interviews a couple of times.

Yeah, I've heard him saying that, too. However, if I recall correctly, he also said that the historical William Wallace was in his early twenties when he rose to fame in the Wars of Scottish Independence, more in line with the age of M'k'n'zy during the Liberation of Xenex than of Mel Gibson at the time of the movie.

Thanks, captcalhoun. I really like those pictures. Burgoyne and McHenry especially, since they got the short stick on covers. I mean, I love David Bowie as the next guy, but that's not how I imagined Burgoyne.

That's neat. Ijust kind of figured it must be them from the way the acted. I read them before the inetrnet.
Though for Quintin stone I always asw Robert Patrick as he looked when he was the T-1000.

I agree there were some crappy covers as far as consistency goes. Personally, I always liked how some of the characters looked in Peter David's Starfleet Academy books. Soleta, McHenry, Kebron.

if you want to know what they really look like, buy the Double Time comic.
Do you know where I can find some example panels? I've tried to google it, but to no avail.

Same here. I was just about to comment on the Starfleet Academy books when I saw this post. In those, Kebron really doesn't have a neck.
